1996 s10 2.2 engine starts but idles rough and will not rev up.

I have a P0171 code. Lean fuel mixture. Blackened spark plugs. Here's what I have done. Replaced fuel filter, spark plugs, coil packs, oxygen sensor, knock sensor and wires. Tested the fuel pump at both stagnant and idle and fuel pressure regulator. Cleaned ICR, umplugged mass air sensor and engine almost stalls. Unhooked catalytic convertor and engine still boggs down when throttle is pressed about 1/4 way down. Checked vacuum lines and replaced possible faulty ones. Truck has 187,000 miles. The engine has about 80,000 miles on it. Previous owner replaced it. I also had a knock engine code and replaced the sensor. I haven't done a compression test yet.

Hi! You must be frustrated by now! your code is marking that the O2 sensor is bad in bank 1. Did you replace the O2 sensor that is located  before the catalytic converter?  The S10 has an O2 sensor specially made for that cat. its about 30$ That would explain for your blackened spark plugs; your pc on the car is asking for more fuel. GOOD LUCK!!

Rough Idle 2011 Nissan Altima

If you're experiencing a rough idle in your 2011 Nissan Altima, the first thing you should do is diagnose the issue. The Torque app can provide you with some diagnostic codes which can help you narrow down the problem. In your case, two current fault codes and two pending fault codes were recorded. The current fault codes point to a system that is running too lean on Bank 2 and misfiring in multiple cylinders. The pending codes indicate a system that is too lean on Bank 1 and a cylinder 2 misfire.
To start troubleshooting, you should begin by checking the spark plugs and ignition coils. Both of these components are integral to the proper functioning of the engine. If they are faulty, they can cause misfiring and rough idling. You should also inspect the mass air flow sensor, as a faulty one can throw off the air-fuel ratio of the engine.
Finally, if the problem still persists after inspecting the spark plugs, ignition coils, and mass air flow sensor, then you should consider consulting a professional mechanic for further diagnosis. They can provide a more accurate assessment of the issue and recommend the best course of action.

What would be more likely to throw DTC Trouble Codes P0301,P0302,P0303,P0316, P0171 and P1504 on a 2002 mercury sable? Vacuum Leaks, injector issues, or ignition system malfunction?

A lean system suggests it is possibly not getting enough fuel. check electrical signal to the injectors on both sides of the engine and compare the two sets. Does the engine run and idle?
Here's a simple way of checking the injectors without removing them.
*NOTE* You will be working with the engine Running so BE CAREFUL of moving parts and the engine getting hot.
You will need an extra long screwdriver or a long metal rod to do this. With the engine idling rest one end of the screwdriver on injector number One. Put your ear on the other end. Note, This will be louder than you expect. A working injector will be a very fast and even ticking noise that gets faster as you rev the engine. Repeat this on injectors 2 and 3.
A rough or irregular tick suggests a dirty or faulty injector. If all three are rough check you fuel rail pressure. Have you tried a dose of injector cleaner through the system. With the engine cold add the correct full tank dose to a quarter tank of fuel and let it idle up to working temperature, (about 10 minutes). DO NOT rev the engine as this thins the mixture making it less effective. Take the vehicle out for a good drive on slow roads and fast roads but don't push it hard as that also thins the mixture. Fill the tank, put a second dose of cleaner in and drive it as normal until the fuel light comes on. Refill the tank and drive normally.
It could also be worth you checking the electrical and mechanical timing on the engine. Even if it is slightly out it can cause issues.
Check the engine filters as well. A dirty Air/Fuel filter can have a bigger effect than you would expect

My 99 grand prix bucks and jumps in reverse and when idling in drive or park

The codes pretty much explain the bucking and jumping. The engine is obviously misfiring on several cylinders.

With the P0171 code, the lean condition (and therefore, the misfiring) could very possibly be caused by a bad Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor, a faulty fuel pump, a clogged fuel filter, or a HUGE vacuum leak.

However, the P0171 code can also be caused by excess unburned air/fuel mixture going down the exhaust due to cylinders misfiring for other reasons like a faulty ignition coil, ignition module or bad spark plugs (as well as other possibilities).

So, now you are faced with trying to determine if the lean condition is caused by the misfires or if the misfires are being caused by a lean condition. (PROPER DIAGNOSIS REQUIRED)

Code 0171 bank one too lean ..car chuggs at idle

P0171 trouble code and a rough idle
Confirm on the P0171=Lean. This would suggest not enough fuel for the amount of air applied. If you air intake wasn't closed off correctly, you may have been sucking excess air and fixing the cover would have righted this if so. It would be possible that your unfiltered air intake may have fouled either a plug or an injector (or multiples). Cleaning plugs is an easy DIY. If its the injectors, I'd take it in. The sensor is probably correct based on your description. If it's throwing the P0171 code then it is sensing lean mixture and the car running rough would support that result.
Not enough gas is the same as too much air in the air-gas mix.. There could be a vacuum leak downstream of the mass air flow sensor. Vaporize some kind of carburator or throttle body cleaner (not in excess when hot keep face and hands at a distance)around the intake conduits and hoses while the engine is running. When the engine idle changes, you will have found the position of the leak.
check all vacuum hoses foe amsplit or tear.

Rough idle vibrates and po171 code service engine soon. [email protected]

Hi, a Ford P0171 is a LEAN code for cylinder bank 1, and P0174 is a LEAN code for cylinder bank 2. These codes commonly occur on many Ford vehicles, and are set when the powertrain control module (PCM) sees the air/fuel mixture is running too lean (too much air, not enough fuel).
When the Check Engine Light comes on, either one of these codes, or both, may be found when a code reader or scan tool is plugged into the vehicle diagnostic connector. IF the vehicle is driven long enough, typically both codes will be set.
A P0171 lean code for bank 1 is the cylinder bank on the RIGHT (passenger) side of the engine on Ford vehicles with a V6 or V8 engine and rear-wheel drive.

A lean fuel condition may exist if the engine is sucking in too much air and/or the fuel system is not delivering enough fuel. If bad enough, a lean fuel condition may cause lean misfire, a rough idle, hesitation or stumble when accelerating, and/or poor engine performance.
Unmetered air can enter the engine through a vacuum leak, a dirty airflow sensor that is not reading airflow accurately, an EGR valve is not closing and is leaking exhaust into the intake manifold, an EGR valve that is allowing too much flow (because the EGR differential pressure sensor that monitors EGR flow is faulty and is under-reporting EGR flow).
If the problem is not enough fuel, the underling cause may be a weak fuel pump, restricted fuel filter, leaky fuel pressure regulator or dirty fuel injectors.

2003 Ford Ranger 4x4 extended cab- diagnostics checked and got these codes- P0171, P0174, P0300, P0316. Can you tell me what they mean?

P0171------ system too lean bank#1
Po174------ system too lean bank#2
For these 2 codes, try cleaning the maf sensor (mass air flow), that is mounted in the big black hose that goes from the air filter housing to the throttle plate, if it is dirty, that will cause those 02 sensors to send a signal to the computor to lean the air fuel mixture. If cleaning it doesn't work, the sensors will probably need changing.
P0300---- Random/multiple cylinder misfire
P0316---- Cylinder misfire at start up---- first 100 revolutions.
On those 2 codes, you have to do some testing to find out why there is a misfire.
Possible causes:
dirty/malfunctioning injectors
weak coil pack
fowling spark plugs/wires
Low fuel pressure

Diagnostic Codes p0171 bank 1, and p0174 bank 2 (too lean)

Those codes are for the oxygen sensors, lean fuel mixture on both banks. Change them, problem with stalling and rough idle should go away.

P0300 is multiple misfires.
P0171 is lean burn on left bank 1 means drivers side
02 sensor is faulty. Your vehicle is over fuelling that is why your are getting P0300 code and the rotten egg smell. Good idea is to replace both 02 sensors.
