Run fault codes and look for knock sensors or other sensor problems.

What do you mean by loud... Loud where??? If noise is from engine, make sure that the mechanical fan clutch is not "locked" (it's supposed to freewheel when cold... if it does not, it will "roar" when driving.

SOURCE: Transmission issues with 3rd and 5th gear

It's weird but it's the problem!!! There is a switch on the transmission near the selector, usually only affects 3rd gear!!! The switch is being distorted after repetitive battering with gear selection!!! I have experienced it and also read about it in australia on a Navara!!!

Get the pump pressure checked in your transmission. It sounds to me like you have low trans pressure. It will act like a slipping clutch in a manual. Also check your trans filter. It will amaze you the difference it makes when you change a clogged filter. Good luck.

SOURCE: 2008 Nissan Altima won't shift gears while driving

If the RPM's Flare, youv'e gone too long without
recognizing a trans that slips

It will have to come out & be rebuilt, most likely.

Why does not start?

I have never heard of an engine noise being described as a tick tack rattling noise. (I assume you mean Tick Tack candy/breathmints?) \

Either way, if it doesnt start, but just makes a rattling/knocking sound, I would ask you did it just quit on you and not restart? Or did it get you where you were going and then would not start when you were ready to leave? If the answer to the first question is yes, then you are likely facing a broken timing belt. The sound you hear are the valves coming into contact with the pistons when you are cranking the starter. This is a bad sound. Lets hope your answer was no to the first and yes to the second. Are you sure have gas? I cannot tell you how many times people have told me "It just won't start!" only to pour a gallon of gas in and varrroooom! What about oil? The tick tack sound just doesn't sound like a healthy engine sound in my head. Do you have oil in the engine? Does somebody hate you enough to drop nuts and bolts into your intake manifold? That would sound like tick tacks. BIG GIANT tick tacks, but tick tacks nonetheless.

Micra K13 Loud Noise at Higher Speeds

I've just bought a K13 Nissan Micra and it doesn't sound quite right. The noise I hear also seems to be coming from the back but it sounds like when you chop down a gear in a manual going down a hill and the engine revvs, well this is the noise I get in the automatic speeding up and slowing down, even just cruising at a steady speed. Any ideas people? Apart from this noise I love this car.

Engine makes a lot of sound in higher gears (manual transmission)

If you are rolling along at 40 or 50 mph and hearing noise in the engine compartment, and shifting to neutral does not change the noise, I would say the problem is something in the transaxle or drive shafts or front hub bearings. Since it is a front wheel drive car, all of the drive components are under the hood.
A mechanic would try running it on a lift and listening for the noise. That may turn on the ABS light but it can be reset.
I would not advise doing it on jacks due to the risk of injury.

I have a 2003 Chevy Impala. I ran my car with no oil and now I'm hearing a loud ticking/knocking noise coming from under my valve cover. I added 2 bottles of oil after finding out that I didnt have any...

might be the valves have been damaged running without oil
- or the crankshaft / camshaft / main bearings
most probably you have to let the engine be rebuilt by a mechanic
(expect cost of more than US$ 2.000)
or get another (used) engine at a scrapyard 2003-chevy-wutfveiel3ypko01ydor435x-5-0.jpg 2003-chevy-wutfveiel3ypko01ydor435x-5-2.jpg

I have a stock '02 RSX-S with 93K miles.I recently started hearing a ticking sound coming from the engine while accelerating at low rpm's in any gear (i can hear it at higher rpm's too, but at that point...

Sounds like an Exhaust Manifold leak on only one cylinder. The Gasket is probably blown out. Check around where manifold is bolted to the engine. Any leaks are usually evident by a black sooty deposit.

Weak humm when driving over 35kmh.

possibly a wheel bearing or tyre noise from badly worn tyres
while driving in a straight line and noise is present change lanes or shimmy car left and right if noise gets worse or better wheel bearing problem
also if noise gets worse in normal town driving speed and gets less at higher freeway speeds check your wheel bearings
