Abs and brake light on

I have my Honda civic and the ABS and Brake light stays lit. I've disconnected the battery and even tapped on the abs module for two days the lights would light up on starting car and then about 3 seconds later turn off. Then today again it started to light up and stay lit. Did the same steps as last time,... but no luck stays lit. Whats the cause?

SOURCE: abs brake light always on

Sounds like this could be a front or rear wheel sensor. You need to check the trouble code by placing a wire short across the test connector located under the dash near the radio center console. This is a blue, two pin connector plugged into a holder. placing a short wire across the two termnals and turning the key on to the II On Position will start the ABS light flashing. Do nt start the engine, just turn the key switch on.

Count the number of flashes. The first group of flashes followed by the next group of flashes. For example, four (4) flashes followed by the next group of eight (8) flashes points to the left driver side rear wheel speed sensor. check the resistance (continuity) with a meter. It should read about 1240 ohms. A resistance of 0 -100 ohms is a bad sensor. Cost of a sensor is about $126 but it is not easy to install since the old one usually is hard to remove.

Bottom line is that the ABS system probably does not work properly because the light is on. The regular brakes are OK.

SOURCE: 1991 honda civic brake light stays on need to push brake pedal to

Sounds like you might have a caliper that is stuck and is not fully disengaging. If it is in the rear then you may have a bad rear caliper. Twoo things you can try. One is to crawl under the ca and adjust the tension two nuts on the emergency brake line. If that does not resolve the problem then remove the back tire and try to spin the drum or rotor whichever you may have. If it does not spin then try adjusting the e brake cable more if it still does not respond then you need to do a brake rebuild. Also does it pull while it is dragging? If it is then you will need to rebuild the brakes no matter what.

SOURCE: 1991 Honda Accord Brake Lights Stay on

Hi,
Usually there is a spring loaded switch that is activated by the brake pedal arm (under the dash). It registers on the pedal arm and when the pedal is depressed the switch is activated, causing your brake lights to illuminate.
The switch may have been bumped out of position. Hopefully this is a quick and easy fix for you...
Good luck!

SOURCE: honda civic ex 2001 parking brake light stays on then goes off

Replace rear brake pads. If that doesn't help, remove the plastic console around the parking brake lever and adjust the pull on the lever. It's probably so loose that it's trigger the light.

This is not normal, looks like someone accidentally drove several miles with the brake on.

Abs,tc&brake light stays on after changeing battery

I would disconnect the negative cable on the battery so it can reset the abs module, on these cars when you change the battery you need to have a 12 volt supply connected to your lighter before you disconnect the battery so there will be no reset on any of the modules in this vehicle.. if that don't do the trick you need to scan the abs system to see if you have any hard codes or just to reset it with the scanner.. abs is for antilock brake system and tc is for traction control they both work out of the same module

Brake pedal loosing pressure

Honda had two brake reservoirs one on the normal brake master cylinder the other on the ABS module. If abs fuse has no power the module has no power. that power comes from the main fuses in underhood fuse box. the abs system is supplement system to normal braking system loss of brake pedal is a air problem or drum brake adjustment problem or a loose wheel bearing pushing the caliper piston back into caliper requiring more fluid to get brake to work causing a low pedal.

My abs and handbrake light stay on every two days and off after in my honda civic 1500cc yr 2004.its a five door civic

This indicates you have an issue with your ABS control unit. ABS is a system that "pumps" the brakes in rapid succession to prevent wheel lockup during an emergency start. A common cause of sliding in wet weather, etc. To do this a computer control module uses plungers to open and close the brake fluid flow to the brake in miliseconds..so while you are pressing on brake pedal hard... the system is actually applying and releasing the brake in rapid succession (miliseconds) to prevent skid, etc. When teh computer module goes bad the ABS and Parking brake light will stay illuminated. There shoudl be an ABS fuse in your vehicle (please refer to your manual) that can be removed. Remove this fuse and check it for dirt, blown, cracks, or corosion. Replace the fuse and listen with the motor off if you hear a hum noise this would indicate the motor is running continuously for the brakes and is another indicator of a bad control. With the fuse removed both lights should stay continuously lit. If the motor is running continuously this can blow the ABS motor.. your brake system will still function with the fuse removed, but test it with a slow roll (no gas hand pushed car) The ABS controller is quite pricey to replace in the vehicle and should be referred to a licensed facility such as a dealer. YES dealers are high but to have this job done properly you need to have the vehicle raised on a platform. Your local brake shop, muffler shop, shadetree wont be able to do this control repair properly.

Changed brake pads and fluid. Brake light/ABS light still lit.

Go back around and check to make sure you didnt accidentally pinch or cut a brake pad sensor. Also the ABS modules on VAG cars are pretty crappy.

Abs light on dash is lit brakes are good

Did some research and found that the module that connects to the ABS pump (next to battery) to be the problem. ISUZU wanted $3,200.00 to fix it. Bought one off of a wreck for $146.99 (LOL, yep, $146.99). Removed battery, disconnected the large cable going to the ABS, unclipped the 3 brake line clips on the top of the fender so the ABS pump could be removed and swapped the electronic modules- did not have to penetrate the brake lines at all. Took me 20 minutes. Restarted Trooper and ABS light went out.

ABS / BRAKE LIGHT

just a thought but, disconnect the battery for 10 to 15 minutes to reset the memory. You might have a computer that is not resetting.

Also, even after resetting you might need to drive it to "force computer to recognize the faults are cleared.

Abs on dashboard stays lit all the time.

The only way to know axactly what happen is with a diagnostic computer.
Because the ABS use a Speed sensor on each of the wheels.
Hydraulic selenoids on the ABS box or Module..
If the light is on. its mean the Anti Lock Brake System is inactive., You gonna brake like any car with no ABS.
I hope this information work for you.
