SOURCE: lost ignition key to motorcycle need key code

Just take you registration down to your dealer, and they will cut a key using the VIN to determine key code. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Lost gas cap key for 1987 Suzuki Savage. Any way

Get your key code off your helmet lock. Check your owners manual in case the original sales man was nice enough to write it down. Call original dealer just in case they are nice enough to keep a record of the key code.

Since you have no key to rotate the switch, it makes removing it very difficult....I suggest you take your bike to the locksmith if he cant come to you, and have a key made. If the same key works for the gas cap, he can use that to make another one also...

Ignition switch removal, I got a bike with no key, dealer says to remove the switch and bring it in for key replacement.

Take one of the head light mounting bolts out and swing the headlight bucket out of the way. With a 10 mm socket on an extension reach up under neath the switch and unbolt it. Unplug the wire harness from the switch and take it off. The key code id stamped on every lock on the bike, gas cap, helmet lock, seat latch, and ignition switch. It is six digit number sometimes with letters. It is found on all the locks, example: 345A56 "A56" is the key code or 654321 "321" is the key code. All you need is the key code to have the key cut at a dealer or a locksmith.

I lost my key to my bike and I spoke with a locksmith and he told that I would have to take the ignition out in order for him to replace or make me a new key so I was trying to figure out how to do so

Before you attempt to take out the ignition, call a dealer and ask him if they can get you a key for your bike by using the VIN as reference. Harley and some metrics can do it this way.

If you lose the keys what can you do?

Hello and thanks for the question.

If you have lost the keys you only have two options. The ignition switch is the most detailed switch and will need to be replaced or have another key cut to work. I have removed the switch and taken to a locksmith with good results. The other option is to have locksmith come to the bike. the results would depend on your locksmith. When the bike was purchased new it had a tag with the keys that had a numerical code. If you have that code the dealer should be able to cut a key for it.

Remember that the key opens the ignition, fuel tank and the seat. If you can not get another key made, you will have to replace all three locks.

Thanks and I hope that this helps.

I lost my keys to my 1986 honda shadow vt1100 and i need to know how to bypass the ignition switch

Your ignition switch , helmet lock , and gas cap have key codes on them. Example #345A56 the last three letters or digits are the key code #A56 in this case. You can take off your ignition switch and take it to a dealer or locksmith and they can make you a key from the code. Check your owners manual in case your dealer was nice enough to write it down for you.

Lost 1999 cbr key

were both keys the same if not it sounds like its had a replacement ignition barrel. it may have a key number stamped in the back of the barrel casing. if it has you can order a replacement key from any good locksmith/dealer, alternatively you can order a replacement barrel from m&p or any motorcycle parts stockists.
