I"m not 100% sure what will or will not fit your bike. One thing I usually do is go to babbittsonline.com and look up your part numbers for your main shaft, counter shaft, bearings, gears, seals, everything basically. Then (and this is a little time consuming but will save you a lot of trouble getting what you need) one by one, you can copy the part numbers and back-page until you get to the screen where you can search individual part #'s. Enter the part # by pasting it in and when it comes up with the description just click the "where used?" button and it will list all the years and models where that part is used.

Time consuming? Yes! Effective? ABSOLUTELY!!!

UNABLE TO SHIFT INTO GEAR
LEVER STUCK, LOOSE OR ONLY SHIFTS 1 WAY (either up or down)

Check that its not just the gear pedal either stuck on its pivot shaft due to corrosion, & that it is not just spinning round on the gear change shaft
If stuck in gear, try rocking the bike back & forward while moving the pedal up & down
If not then its probably the gear selector mechanism - hopefully on the accessible part.
If the gearbox only shifts 1 way then its probably just a broken / dislodged spring on the claw mechanism.

Remove the right-hand engine cover & check that the shift shaft operates the claw (which turns the gear selector drum) & that all springs etc are OK.
Otherwise its on the internal part of the selector mechanism either the shift drum is stuck or more likely the shift forks are worn or broken. Either way it will require a full engine strip

Mercedes-Benz s430 stuck in park what do I do

One of two things will make a vehicle's gear selector stick in park:
  1. Brake pedal interlock circuit problem or brake pedal interlock solenoid failure; or
  2. Problem with the transmission linkage.
FIRST THING TO CHECK: ARE YOUR BRAKE LIGHTS COMING ON WHEN YOU PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL? If not, your brake light circuit is having an issue, which means that the gear selector interlock solenoid will not release the gear selector. Check the fuse, the brake light switch under the dashboard, and all connectors. If your brake lights are coming on skip that.
SECOND THING TO CHECK: Have you tried manually releasing the interlock override at the gear selector? Check your user manual. It will instruct you to place your key in the slot near the PRNDL indicator on your center console (assuming that your gear selector is not on the steering column), or where to release the selector manually if the selector is on the steering column.
ARE YOU PARKED ON A HILL? Sometimes, parking on a steep incline will cause the park pin to jam into place. If this occurs, you will need to push the vehicle uphill slightly (get a couple of friends to help) so that you may get the vehicle out of Park.
IF you cannot manually release the gear selector using the override, you will need to have your car towed to a garage and have them check the transmission linkage. Sometimes the linkage gets jammed, sometimes the park pin gets jammed, and sometimes magical trolls interfere with our lives covertly... best of luck to you!

I cant put the car in any gears the leaver just goes up and down

Your gear selector cable is broken somewhere between the the selector itself to the transmission..it's not hard to check, just have somebody pull up and down on the gear selector and you lay under the driver door looking under to see where the cable is wobbling

My 18v cordlass drill moter runs but will not

Your selector slide for the gears may be broken. If it is broken you will have to replace the transmission unit cause they don't sell the individual parts. Or it could be that your selector slide is off a little, try shifting the selector into the different positions. If it is not locking you are missing the little retention spring that rides along the side of the selector. In this case all you need to replace is the spring. Any questions please post back.
