Question about Motorcycles

Open Question

Motorcycle wires were cut in an attempt to hotwire and steal(cbr954rr 2002). trying to hotwire myself to get it started so I can out it in storage. Bike will crank but not turn over but all lights are working. Also, do not here fuel pump when touching wires together. Any suggestions?

SOURCE: Electronic Fuel Pump

It turned out that the ignition key was faulty and it cut out my fuel pump and power to my spark plug but all other electrics worked. Tried my spare key and could hear fuel pump working pressed starter and it fired up how bizarre is that. so problem sorted.

there is also a fuse block behind your left side case behind the tool kit box. remove the box and the is a fuse block with a 10 amp fuse for the fuel as well

check your key it has a chip in side it and it may be faulty try your spear and i know it sounds silly but just make sure your kill switch is set to run check the hiss fuse under the seat also swap your fuel pump relay with the fan one the fuel pump relay has brown wires going to it and the fan has black and blue if you have an alarm on it it will be worth checking that make sure that the fuel pump is pluged in under the tank take a look at the hiss light does it go out wen the bike is switched on if it stays on you have a HISS problem any problems let me know and i will do my best to help

see if you can find the fuel cutoff relay and jumper the connector with 12volts, you should be able to jumper across two wires, using a paper clip or something like that. Make sure key is off first turn on the key and you should here it. The tail light could just be a separate issue, did you check your fuses.. maybe the bulb is burnt out. See if the bike will push start..if it does, then drive it and get up to speed if the fuel pump is not doing its job you wont be able to hold that speed for might even start bogging down.

954 Was running bad 1 & 4 pipes were not hot, changed the plugs and it wouldn't start had to put it on the charger, tried to crank it if the bike is tilted to the right past center. But still nothing

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Discharged battery, needs to be 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary.
4. Check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
5. Tip over sensor needs a reset.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Faulty starter button.
8. Faulty kickstand or clutch pull in switch/sensor.
9. Starter control circuit, relay, or solenoid faulty.
10. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
11. Check for engine trouble codes.

My ground connector burnt. so I cut it off, now it does not initialize when the key is turned on, can I join all the wires together?

Sorry Juan:
Best to take your VIN to a dealer. They should be able to give you a key code. Then have a lock shop cut you a new key.

If I tell you how to hot wire it, dis-honest people could use that info to steal your (or other people's) cars.

I have a 1988 fzr1000 i have 3 problems 1) you turn key to off and pull it out it will still turn over 2) you start it the battery wont charge 3) lights only come on when you put the switch on highbeam and...

Has your bike ever been stolen or are you aware of an attempt to steal it? It sounds like the ignition switch was severely tampered with. Does the switch look like somebody tried to hammer something into it? Are any wires going to the switch pulled out? It may be a failed attempt at hotwiring.

Right off the bat I think that you need to get a replacement ignition switch installed ASAP. You may want to consider having the police look at it if it looks like there was criminal activity of some sort on your bike.

If there is any good news, it is that if you can prove that somebody messed with your bike, your insurance should cover the repairs. Good luck.

How to hotwire my bike? Not for any bad things, mu brother lost my keys.

1. Start by prying the metal ignition cap where the key would usually go off to get to the wires. 2. Twist the battery and ignition wires together to complete the connection and send power from the battery to the motorcycle's ignition. Alternate Method 1. You can clip the wires on the bottom of the ignition. Only clip the red wire and the solid green wire. If there is no green wire, look for a solid yellow or black wire. Various colors are used to prevent non-professional tampering. The battery is always red and green, yellow, and black are the ground/ignition wires. Only clip the previously mentioned wires and leave the other wires alone, especially any "stripped" wires!
