After wash, clothes all smell like oil/gas from machine.

Our Frigidaire front load washer works fine, except all of the clothes come out worse than when put in. I don't know if something is leaking in unit, but ALL clothes that smell normal before wash ALL smell like mechanical oil/gas. Please could you give me any suggestions as to what the problem is? Only had machine 17 months. Thanks, Al

You have to remove and clean the rubber around the front of door,
, Snap it back on.
disconnect AC to prevent any accidental shock.
open the bottom access panel
screws on bottom front , open the large filter and be ready for latent water to spill out , have rags ready.

clean the inside of the filter with clorox.
finally run a strong solution of clorox when you finish.
then rinse well.
leave the door open after loads finish
the door has a child lock
black dot next to lock on door , insert coin and rotate.
keeps them from closing the door.

If the tub seal lets go water will weep into the tub bearing. This will rust the basket shaft and normally wreck the tub bearing. Once the bearings starts to get worn enough it usually gets very noisy. The tub bearing is pressed onto the outer back half of the tub shell assembly. Normally need to replace the inner basket/shaft assembly and the outer shell with the tub bearing.

use Affresh. It is a tablet that you put into your washer and run it alone. You can buy it where you buy your front load washers. I bought it at Best Buy. hope this helps

There is mold around the rubber and in the inside of the rubber on my Front Load. How can I get rid of this? Is there a product to clean front load washers?

Hi.

The mold is an enzime from the washing detergent or softener. It attacks certain rubbers and causes them to turn black. Eventually it will cause a musty smell which will go on the clothes.

The only way to remove is by replacing the door seal.
If you try bleach etc then it will cause the mold to get worse.

Hope this helps

My washer has a really bad smell like musty if i leave the doors closed or if I leave clothes in for a couple of hours is this a probem with them

hi there,

the musty smell is from the door boot or gasket. deposit from clothes and detergent get trapped in there and have nowhere else to go. i would recommend purchasing Washerfresh tables to get rid of the deposits. they are available all over.

Frigidaire washer

hi mom,

could it be that these newer models now a days uses less water to wash clothes?

that is what they are boasting about.

energy efficient washing machines..less water more cleaning. ( at least that's what they say) specially on front loading types. not like the top loading where it uses a lot of water.

please check your owner's manual, it may be stated in there regarding water level of the new washer.

HE Washer leaves clothes smelling bad

Peace,
ngafm at your service,
How old is the washer?
And how long has it been smelling bad?

Some front loaders over the years have had this problem and the worse used to be the Maytag Neptune!
This is what I tell my customers to do:
Friend,
ngfam1 At your service!

It is normal for some frond load washers to have a little water left in the inner tub after the wash finishes!

I do tell my customers to run the washer once a week without clothes and with hot water and 1/4 cup of bleach. And then make sure to do only white clothes directly after wards as not to get a drop of beach water on a colored article of clothing!
Then leave the door open after every load when not in use!

If this will not help I would call frigidiare and tell them you must have it replaced that it is affecting your family because of the mold smell!
Believe me they will swap it out after all the money you spent on it, you deserve it! BUT REMEMBER MANY people have this problem with some front load machines!
if it's not new then perhaps the pump is faulty or the lint is clogging int he pump of the machine!

Let me know what happens!
Bless You,
please give me a rating before you sign off!
