Question about Honda GL 1800 Gold wing Deluxe Motorcycles
Check where the wires from knob join the others, remove the socket and use some contact spray. If is not working try to test another knob from another friend before purchasing it.

Could be a few things I would recomend checking all the head bearings really good, it also could be a busted cord in the front tire. When this happens it usually causes a vibration at higher speeds

SOURCE: FM Radio static
I think this is a component issue. I had a similar problem with my 81, so I just got a new one.

Testimonial: "I rigged up a standard FM car stereo and connected original antenna. No problems, definitely a component issue. Thx for the info. Very helpful"
You will need a meter to figure it out.
With the button pushed, you will get 12 volts (or so) to the big wire at the starter motor.
If not, back up to the starter relay, and to the battery, make sure that it has a good charge.
Keep in mind that some of these have a safety not to start without a brake lever pulled in, which is activated by yet another switch.
