Kubota troubleshooting Tractor won't start, I checked fuses and wires. Dash lights do not go on When ignition is turned on but fuel pump hums, starter does not engauge

Did you checked the battery voltage?

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

On most Suzukis with fuel pump that I have worked on, the wiring would be:

  • Yellow/Green - start interlock, connected to the clutch lever position switch and/or starter control relay;
  • Black/White - ground;
  • Orange/Yellow - ignition B+12; and
  • Black/Yellow - trigger pulse, connected to the - terminal of one of the ignition coils and/or to the CDI/igniter.

check the fuel filter it sounds like it's pluged and causing too much back presure this is causing an over load in the fuel pump causing it to stop working or to presure lock

check your key it has a chip in side it and it may be faulty try your spear and i know it sounds silly but just make sure your kill switch is set to run check the hiss fuse under the seat also swap your fuel pump relay with the fan one the fuel pump relay has brown wires going to it and the fan has black and blue if you have an alarm on it it will be worth checking that make sure that the fuel pump is pluged in under the tank take a look at the hiss light does it go out wen the bike is switched on if it stays on you have a HISS problem any problems let me know and i will do my best to help

look for a wire/switch problem from the run side of the starter switch to the ignition control module
what you have is this
when it is in start the power is to the starter as well as to the ignition module
when the engine stats and you let go of the switch, power to the starter is cut but a new circuit to the ignition module is engaged to give power for ignition
by letting go of the switch ,the circuit for power to the ignition module is broken
find that break in the circuit ( wire or ignition switch) and the problem will be solved

I have a Kubota lawn mower model RCK60P-28Z that does not start or run. When I turn the key on the lights on the dash come on but the engine does not crank over when the key is turned to the start pos

.It isn't the best quality like a Honda but it is brand new so it will last a long time. As the pictures tell you its in great shape,,stickers and paint in 99% cond. Asking 150 cash only OBO steal of a deal brand new these things are 300 bucks this thing is brand new cuts just like one.

My car will not start. when I turn the key it makes a humming sound. the lights on the dash come on, but the car will now start.

I might need a little more details of what you have tried and what it does. For example. When you turn key, you said it hums. Most likely that is your fuel pump or relay coming on. Which is good. If light are coming on that means you have battery.
Does it make a click when turning the key? Does it try and crank over at all? Is it dead except the humming? If you can give me as much information as possible I can pin point the problem.
It could be as simple as a ground wire to the starter solenoid. Check wires there to see if loose or corroded. Also check starter relay fuse in panel. Also when starting, try and wiggle key around in ignition to make sure not short there. I am leaning toward, based on your brief description of symptoms that this is going to be a wire short or fuse relay. Please check out first what I suggested then get back to me with more information to help you further. Thanks Mike

If the engine won't fire up, but your starter turns over, you may want to check your timing unless you have a check engine light on. If the CEL light is on, have the codes scanned.

If the engine won't turn over with the starter or it clicks, have your battery tested at autozone or advanced auto parts. Replace the battery if it is bad. Else, have your starter tested.

If the engine still won't turn over and the battery and starter are tested fine, you may have a blown fuse, bad ignition switch, or a failed relay.

If the engine fires up but randomly dies and starts back up, you either have a failed sensor, failing fuel pump, clogged fuel filter, bad plugs or wires, or a failing ECU.

what do you mean by "dash lights"? how do you KNOW the pump isnt working? how do you KNOW its good? at the ignition switch the ORANGE and PINK should have power in the RUN position the BROWN and TAN/WHITE should also be HOT in the run position. There should be a red wire near the fuel pump relay, make sure its HOT when cranking. IF its HOT and the fuel pump doenst run, the pump is bad. You can also put 12V on that red wire and power the pump.

2007 chevy cobalt ls won't start battery good starter good turn key nothing no click nothing all lites work on dash and radio works jumped starter with screwdriver turns. Over but won't start...

Ignition relay or fuse could be the problem. When you turn the key to start do you hear a fuel pump kicking on and or do you have spark when you hot wire the starter (I know it's hard to check while trying to start it)? You can email me back and I might be able to pinpoint it more.

I can see where you believe that the problem is in the dash. But I can also see where the mechanic said to trace the wires out. This is a very difficult one to figure out. But before you go buy an ignition switch. I would take the old ignition switch off and check all of the wires to ground. Make sure that you don't have any continuity on any of the wires to ground. Then you can check all of the pins on the ignition switch to ground also. This will determine if it is one of the wires going to ground, or the actual ignition switch going to ground.

Was the old fuel pump bad? It might be worth the cost to replace the ignition switch. The wires to the fuel pump would be a second guess if the old pump was bad and burnt the wires before the fuse went. When you eliminated the fuel pump you also eliminated the wires to the pump and it started. Then you replaced the pump, but not the wires. The ignition switch is the other end of the circuit.

Car will not start

If the starter is good, a bad ignition module or failed fuel pump will produce similar symptoms, i.e. no cranking, nothing happening when you turn the key. Ignition module sits under the distributor cap and is about the size and shape of a cassette tape with 2 female plugs and one male plug. Quick way to check the fuel pump is to put the car in a quiet place like inside the garage. Find a quiet friend to sit behind the wheel and turn the key so the dash lights come on, DO NOT TURN THE KEY FULLY LIKE YOU'RE TRYING TO START. You get down on the ground and listen near the gas tank for the quiet hum of the fuel pump that tells you it is working.
