One litre in the primary of Formula+, one liter Formula+ in gearbox, approx. 2.4 litres engine oil HD360 in sump. Look underneath and find sump. Engine oil drain plug is on left side of sump near bottom and back and is in horizontal. Gearbox drain plug is to the right side of sump about half way and points up. Torque is 14 lbs-ft with DRY CLEAN threads. Use new O rings on bung plugs, part #:11105. Warning: very easy to strip these threads.

SOURCE: were is the oil drain

The oil pan is on the bottom of the transmission. There are two drain plugs on the oil pan. They used to be one on the left front corner and one in the center. Now, they are both on the front edge of the pan right next to each other. The one on the outside is the oil drain plug. The transmission drain takes a hex key or allen wrench where the oil drain takes a standard wrench or socket.

Where do i fill transmission oil amnd where the drain plug for engine oil

Transmission oil is added, checked at a chrome plug with a 3/8 inch female hex socket head on the right top side of the transmission case. The engine oil drain plug is a 5/8 inch hex head plug on the bottom left side of the oil tank case under the spot where the jiffy stand rests in it up position.

Where do I find the oil plug on a 2006 dyna low rider?

Do you mean the engine drain plug or the engine fill plug OR do you mean the transmission drain plug or the transmission fill plug or do you mean the primary drain plug and the fill is through the derby cover so there is not fill plug.

I will assume it is the engine oil drain plug and that is on the left side lower oil tank case at the point where the jiffy stand lower end rests against the frame in the up position.

If that is not your question post it again and make it clear what you want to know.

2008 dyna fxdl 96 ci oil& ****** drain plugs

The oil and transmission drain plugs are on the bottom of the transmission. The engine oil tank is there. The center plug is the engine oil and the plug on the side is the transmission drain plug, I think. I don't work on the newer bikes and I'm not sure about which plug is which. I think I'm right though. I work on the older bikes (shovelheads and such) that the dealers will no longer work.

How do i drain the transmission on 03 fxdl, i want to change the tranny fluid and i want to know where do i drain the fliud.

From the drawing that I'm looking at, the transmission is drained by removing the drain plug on the right rear of the oil pan. The other drain plug is for the engine oil and it appears to screw up from the bottom of the pan on the right side. If you have changed the engine oil, you know which plug drains the engine oil, it's the other one.

Need to know how to change oil in 2000 dyna low rider-what kind of oil to use and -how to change transmission fluid and what tranny fluid to use

There are two plugs on the bottom of the transmission, one for the engine oil, one for the tranny lube. The engine oil drain is the one that is closest to the left front corner of the oil pan. The other plug is the transmission.

The engine requires three quarts of oil, the tranny takes 20-24 ounces of oil.. Check the engine oil with the bike on the side stand. There are two marks on the dipstick. The upper mark is the "FULL HOT", the lower mark is the 'FULL COLD" mark. Keep the oil level between these two marks and do not overfill.

On the transmission, on the right side of the transmission, you'll see a chrome clutch release cover. It's behind the exhaust system. There is a plug that takes a 3/8" Allen or Hex key to remove. Check the oil level with the bike standing straight up.

As for what lubricants to use, I always use nothing but Harley-Davidson oil. 20W50 Syn 3 oil in the engine, transmission, and primary on 2000 and later model bikes. However, you can use other oils such as Amsoil, Royal Purple, Mobil, Motor Factory, and many others. Synthetic or petroleum based, your choice. Check the website of the manufacturer that you wish to use.

I need a manual showing basic maintence. Oils, how to find the drain plug for the oil, etc.

You didn't say what model bike. I do not believe that Harley ever published a single book of how to service all their models. You must have a service model for each model group.

Now that seems difficult but really it's not. Harley groups their bikes into about three models of Big Twins and Sportsters. Sportsters are all the same, the same applys to the Softail line, the Dyna line, and the Dresser line. Take the Dyna series. This line inclues the Dyna Wide Glide, the Dyna Convertable, the Dyna Low Rider, and the Dyna Super Glide. They all service the same way. It's simple just remember how much oil goes in each one, the transmission is the same (except Sportster), and primary quantity. Since Harley went to the Syn3 oil that they use everywhere. It's simple these days.

Now, for servicing the front forks you need the specific service manuals because of the differences in the front fork assemblies.

Good luck

Just need to know how to change Engine, Transmission and Primary

There are two drain plugs on the bottom of the transmission. One is the engine oil and the other is the transmission. Drain the two oils from there. The primary oil drain is a small pipe plug underneath the lowest part of the primary drive cover.

The engine holds three quarts of oil, the transmission holds 20-24 ounces of oil, and the primary hold 36-42 ounces of oil. Fill the primary until the oil level is just to the bottom of the spring in the clutch assembly. If you get too much oil in the primary, the clutch will drag and you will be unable to find neutral with the engine running.
