If you have a manual
it will tell you how many ML it will hold from empty
some bikes tell you one the oil cap
some bikes will tell you in a small window on the side of the engine which i beleive this is the solution in your case
under the window it may also tell you how many ML to put in
some bikes have a small drain screw
un do the screw and top up the oil
until oil comes out of the screw hole

Iv put half a litre if sewing oil in my industrial overlocker and still nothing showing in oil level window. Dnt want to overfill but shld i put more . where has the oil that I put in gone???

I suspect that you will not see an oil level in the sight glass because it is overfull. Find the drain plug and empty out the oil and restart the filling process

Too much oil in my car

There is a bolt on the bottom of the oil pan that allows the oil to drain out. Take out this bolt until the oil has drained out. From empty put 4-4.5 qts into the engine (on a level surface) then start and let it run for 20-30 sec, then turn off the engine and let it sit for 1 min or more before checking the oil level. The crosshatched area of the dipstick indicates one quart.

I have a Craftsmans 6.75 weedwacker mower. I just added mower oil and it bagan making lots of smoke. when I shut it off and left it, oil was dripping out through the air filter. What happened?

Hi julia. I'm afraid you have put too much oil in it. Empty the oil out again and clean the air filter with hot soapy water. When the mower is emptied of oil only put in half of a small cup. Give it a few minutes and check the dip stick. You only need minimum amount;s

Starts up then shuts down

Empty the Oil / Crankcase - You put too much oil in it - After you do this. Fill up the oil to the correct level - Pull the spark plug and clean / dry it and put it back in - It will start - I had the same problem

OIL CHANGE

you need to buy first the optimal oil filter to your car dont use a similar then take out the screw of the carter with a wrench, but first take out the cap was in the surface of the motor the one has de label OIL is uses to fill the motor because this help to empty the liquid so quik and put in the floor a recipent for the uslees oil to dispose (use a jack preferably to this action), and continue to take out the oil filter, always be in the back of the motor and you need to taken out by down near of the floor.
and when the motor will empty of oil, put em again the screw in the carter and the new filter for this use the strenght of your hands only (now you can down the jack), and fullfill the motor with 4 or 4 and a half liters (oil a course) better 20w-50w and put the surfece cap of the motor, and thats it you chane your self the oil of your car.

I want to drain the old oil out so i can replace with new oil,, how do i empty it?

Under your car in the front should be the oil pan. It has a bolt on one of it's sides. Loosen this bolt and take it out. Don't forget to put something under your car to catch the old oil. Also, change the oil filter. You should see the oil filter while you are under your car. Before putting in new oil and filter, make sure you put the bolt back in the oil pan. Put a little new oil into the new filter and wipe some oil with your finger around the oil filter rubber gasket. Make sure you don't overfill with oil !

How many quarts of oil go in a 1980 honda cx500 motor cycle? and where should the oil level be on the dip stick? thanks, sladerivers@aol.com

i would suggest using a good 10w 40 engine oil and simply put the bike on the centre stand pouring in 2 litres to start thats if the bike has been drained empty then just top up little at a time untill oil is in the markers on the dip stick the bike will hold around the 3 litre mark from empty hope this helps

I think I forgot to put oil in the car or even check it...Oooops!

White smoke usually not a good thing. Does the engine turn over with the starter? If so try adding oil and see what happen's.
