Question about 1984 Honda CBX 750 F
Can you tell me if the generator pulse coils on my honda cbx 750 are supposed to run in oil or not as i have just bought the bike and it looks like someone has blocked a opening going to the coils thanks
a 6ya Mechanic can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

The CB250 RS unit should be similar. The FT500 lump was actually derived from the XR/XL500 dirt bikes, so if you can find one of those, that may help. There was also a U.S. version of the FT500 called the Ascot, so you might try checking out U.S. websites.

Look around the engine oil drain plug and fill area and see if there is an electric sending unit( small plug with a prong for a wire) that is screwed into the engine if so check to see if its unplugged / could be a low oil cut off switch that kills all power to the ignition if the oil is to low ( or the wire is unplugged)

it takes between 3-4 quarts but that model has a dip stick on the oil cap so use it to check as you fill, also make sure to only use motorcycle oil,car oils break down to fast and were not designed for motorcycle use, honda makes a very good oil, i would use a 10w-40 for cold weather and 20w-50 for hot weather, also i would suggest a synthetic oil, it will shift easier and make those movable parts last allot longer. ( preventative maintenance )
