SOURCE: Engine

The CB250 RS unit should be similar. The FT500 lump was actually derived from the XR/XL500 dirt bikes, so if you can find one of those, that may help. There was also a U.S. version of the FT500 called the Ascot, so you might try checking out U.S. websites.

SOURCE: 92 honda cb 750, oil light will not go out, bike won't start

Look around the engine oil drain plug and fill area and see if there is an electric sending unit( small plug with a prong for a wire) that is screwed into the engine if so check to see if its unplugged / could be a low oil cut off switch that kills all power to the ignition if the oil is to low ( or the wire is unplugged)

SOURCE: how much oil does a 2004 honda shadow aero 750

it takes between 3-4 quarts but that model has a dip stick on the oil cap so use it to check as you fill,also make sure to only use motorcycle oil,car oils break down to fast and were not designed for motorcycle use, honda makes a very good oil, i would use a 10w-40 for cold weather and 20w-50 for hot weather,also i would suggest a synthetic oil, it will shift easier and make those movable parts last allot longer. ( preventative maintenance )

1994 HONDA CBX 750 F NO SPARK

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Severely discharged or a damaged battery should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead-acid batteries.
3. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.
5. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting/leaking, spark plug cable connections loose check for spark leakage in the dark.
6. Faulty ignition coil or electronic control module.
7. Faulty pulse coil.
8. Faulty CKP, CMP, or BAS sensor.
9. Faulty ignition switch.
10. Faulty run/off switch
11. Tilt sensor needs a reset.
12. Security alarm failing to disarm needs reset

Thanks for all the previous suggestions, it seems my 84 cbx750 has a intermittant,very poor spark on all 4. i have changed plugs and checked leads, still not starting....

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, a couple of checks when starting:
  • verify consistent + 12 on the black/white wires on the ignition coils and spark unit;
  • high pulsating ACV on the yellow and blue wires to the ignition coils from the spark unit;
  • low pulsating ACV (0.5 VAC) on the yellow & white pair and the blue & white pair to the spark unit from the pulse generator.
Postback results of tests.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
