Fully synthetic is normally for water cooled engines that have small
oil ways
the thinner the oil you use the hotter the engine will run
i would advise against it

SOURCE: 2006 FLHR Road king: what kind of oil to use and not hd oil or amsoil...

You should only use HD 20w50 in that model HD any other oil is actually bad for HD becuase they are ball bearing motors and have diffrent lubrication needs.

SOURCE: 2002 Road King FLHR CI, Is Lucas Full Synthetic 20W-50 Recommended for ALL compartments?

If Harley would not make their own line of Synthetic oil if it was bad for a Harley. I use Mobile one on my 2002 Wide Glide and never have had an issue with it.

2002 Road King FLHR CI, Is Lucas Full Synthetic 20W-50 Recommended for ALL compartments?

You should only run HD Primary Chain Oil in that primary case and nothing else.
Synthetics are never good in harleys since they are ball bearing motors and Synthetics tend to be to slippery making the bearings skate instead of roll.

Just bought a 2002 Road King and unsure what type of oil is being used...after 2000 miles it needs a little oil added and I am not sure what to use...(reg or synthetic) and if there will be any issues if...

Your bike came from the factory with H-D Syn3 20W50 synthetic engine oil in it. Todays petroleum based and synthetic engine oils are compatible with each other so there are no issues there. Check the oil level with your bike on the side stand. There should be two lines on the dipstick. The upper line is the "FULL HOT" line and the lower line is the "FULL COLD" line. As long as the oil level is between the two lines, do not add oil. Resist the temptation to "top off the oil tank". Do not overfill the oil tank.

Good Luck

What brand and weight of engine oil do you recomend for the two cam harley road king ? harley brand ? syn or regular multi grade ???...

Harley brand would be expensive but you cant go wrong if you use it. They cant blame you. Now syn vs regular? synthetic oil is though a little more expensive compared to regular, but lasts longer and gives better lubrication. And reduces your need to service the bike. Hence saves man-hours. and cost of lube as well. The choice is yours, ultimately.

WHAT IS BEST OIL TO USE AND WHAT VISCOSITY FOR 2002 ROAD KING

Your bike came filled with H-D Syn3 20W50 synthetic oil in the engine, primary case, and the transmission. To avoid getting into the "what's the best oil" argument, I'm going to recommend sticking with that. There are lots of oils that are good. Go to the Amsoil and Mobil oil websites.

Good Luck

What type of transmission fluid does 2003 road king use

I'd use a full synthetic 75-140. But you'll get other suggestions as well. I've run the full synthetic 75-140 in both my HD's since 1990. It is expensive but worth it to me for as often as it is changed.

When changing the oil in a Harley Davidson Road King Classic, 2005, how many ounces of oil do you put in it?

Three quarts. Then check the level while the bike is on the side stand. The dipstick is marked "Full Hot" and "Full Cold". Make sure you do not overfill.

What are the pros and cons of synthetic oil in harley davedson road king.

Using synthetic is all "pros" in my opinion. I've done a lot of research on line and talking to motorcycle mechanics, local riders, local landscapers who all use synthetics. There is a ton of scientific data and wear comparison data out their- so much that, for me, it's a no brainer to use synthetic. After hours of research I decided to use nothing but Amsoil. Make sure you specify the Motor Cycle oil as it is specifically formulated for bikes. You can usually find it locally. Harley has theirs made for them by one of the major oil refineries- they just put their name on it and mark it up tremendously. Amsoil's specs are the best I've found. I have a 2007 Dyna Super Glide with Vance Hines pipes and a 96 Harley Low Rider with a Crane cam, tricked out chrome and 2 piece 3 spoke "saber" wheels- a real beauty!

Hope this helps and good ridin'!
