Taillights out - Yamaha Motorcycles

Tailights are out, turn signal blinkers work. Replaced one bulb and still not working. Front running lights and headlight work fine. Seems strange there would be a separate fuse for just the tail ights. Any suggestions?

Removing taillight assembly for a 2001sebring

Open the trunk, peel back the trunk liner to expose wiring connector and taillight housing plastic retainers, disconnect wiring connector and loosen plastic retainers and remove the taillight assembly. See diagram in section 7 of your manual to figure out which bulbs to replace if needed. !!!Don't touch the bulb socket unless you're sure the car's electrical systems are switched off.

Replaceing rear signal light

1. Remove the two small Phillips head screws holding the inside edge of the Taillight assy (you have to open the tailgate)

2. Pull straight back on the Taillight assy levering most of your pressure to the outside edge.
(There is two peg like things [top and bottom of the assy]stuck into a tight fitting hole in the body, so it will take some effort, as they are pretty snug..but, they should eventually pop out)

(Put a dab of vasoline on the pegs before you stick them back in, this makes future entries easier)

3. Twist each lamp base 1/4 turn CCW and the lamp base/holder will come right out of the Taillight assy.

4. While grasping the bulb, Pull straight out from the base..Insert new Bulb.
(Spray a little lubricating contact cleaner in the socket and on the bulb base, before you put the new bulb in.)

5. Add a little vinly/rubber spray protectant to the rubber gasket on the base.

6. Re-install Lamp and base into Taillight assy using a 1/4 turn CW twist of your wrist

7. Align the pegs on the Back of the Taillight assembly with the mating holes on the body.

8. Gently, but firmly smack the Taillight assy with the heel of your hand,to seat the pegs.

9. Re-install and tighten the two screws and go wipe off the finger prints and smudges from Taillight assy lens.

Brake light out on dodge journey, how to replace if it is just the bulb

According to the owner's manual for 2009 on pages 464-65:
(1) open the liftgate
(2) remove the two fasteners from the inboard side of the taillight housing.
(3) insert a trim stick between body panel and outboard side of the taillight housing with one hand and grasp the flange on the inboard side of the taillight housing with the other. use the trim stick and hand pressure together to disengage the taillight housing from the vehicle.
(4) rotate the bulb's electrical connector 1/4 turn counterclockwise (lefty loosey) and remove it from taillight housing.
(5) remove the bulb from the connector socket and install replacement bulb.
(6) install the bulb and connector assembly into the taillight housing and rotate the connector 1/4 clockwise to lock it in place
(7) reinstall the taillight housing and fasteners.
don't be surprised if you crack a fastener or two. i hope this helps--good luck. jono

How do i install a wiring harness for a trailer on a 2002 ford focus wagon?

  • Loosen and pull back the carpeting in the back of the trunk behind the taillights.
  • Step 2 Remove the plastic wingnuts that secure the taillight to the vehicle's body.
  • Step 3 Separate the taillights from the vehicle's body, but do not disconnect the wiring.
    Installing the Connector
  • Step 1 Examine the wiring harness on each taillight. There will be a plastic connector on each side that must be separated to insert the wiring harness connector.
  • Step 2 Thread the trailer wiring connectors through holes in the body behind each taillight. Follow the instructions provided with the connector to determine which connector belongs in which side of the vehicle.
  • Step 3 Insert the wiring connectors into the vehicle's wiring harness.
    Reinstalling the Taillights
  • Step 1 Push the taillights into position against the body and reinstall the plastic wingnuts that secure them. Be careful not to crush the wiring.
  • Step 2 Route the trailer wiring underneath the carpeting in the trunk, so that the trailer connector can extend out between the trunk lid and bumper when in use, and be tucked into the trunk when not in use.
  • Step 3 Reposition the trunk carpet over the taillight housing.

    Passenger Taillight always burning out

I own a 97 LS as well and I was going through passenger taillight bulbs too. I found that the water that drained in the channel around the trunk was deteriorating the connectors on the taillight. I replaced the circuit board (black plastic piece you plug the lights into) and also used a can of Electical Connector Cleaner on both the plug to the circuit board and the socket the lights plug into. Lights have lasted now 5 months without burning out.

    Taillight and Brakelight wont work

take a test light ground clamp to neg side of battery or on frame. turn key on, poke wires going to lights by the base of the taillight assembly.also check with brakes engaged. if no power there, check further down at the electrical connector plug.unplug it, touch pins w/ point,if none there, check for power at fuses to those circuits.if you have power to both side of fuse, but none to connector plug for taillight, check wiring in between. if there is power to the taillight assembly, check bulb socket for rust, corrosion, flattened bulb contacts, not grounding.

Replacement of rear outside tail light assembly

If you're asking how do you change a taillight bulb, then follow this procedure:

    Open the trunk lid.

Disconnect the connectors from the taillights (taillight bulb connectors are visible by looking inside the trunk at the back of the tail lamps.) There may be an interior trunk trim panel that you have to take off but in most cases its just a series of thumb screws that hold them in.

    Brake Lights/Taillights: 21/5 W

Rear Turn Signal Light: 21 W

    Back-up Light: 21 W

Rear Side Marker Light: 5 W

Turn the bulb sockets 45 º counterclockwise to remove the bulbs.

If you're removing the taillamps with the bumper off there are 3 nuts and screws that hold the taillight to the rear panel of the car that have to come off from the inside of the trunk.
Remove the nuts and screws, then remove the taillight.

    hope that answers your question

How to change the flasher /tail light on a 2000 buick lesabre

go to the trunk, remove the plastic nut holding the trunk interior skin in place (the nuts are the plastic that the trunk net hangs on), the skin will pull away with a snap after that. Remove three bolts from the back of the taillight, the taillight assembley will slid out from the exterior of the car. Remove the wire assembly from the taillight, replace the bulb and put it back into the taillight. SLide the taillight assembly back in place, but the three bolts back on, snap the trunk skin into place, screw the plastic trunk net bolt back in.
