Sounds like it is grounding out somewhere. Start at the battery and follow the hot side till you find it.

1981 Honda CB900 service manual

Hi, William the vast majority of service, parts fiche, and owners manuals on the internet are "FREE" to download and all service manuals contain wiring diagrams in the back pages. The rest usually charge a modest fee of $15 and there is a handful of obscure, rare, obsolete, and very old models that are no longer or never were available and some were never printed in English. The Indian and Philippine markets are usually in E-book format only, for these rare occasions I shall look on eBay and find the cheapest one available. Most of the manuals will cover your exact make, model, and year otherwise one will be provided that comes as close as possible to your bike and will have most of the same info that an exact manual would have. If there is no $ sign after the manual link it is free to download.

Hi Anonymous, could be your oil tank is overfull should have at least 1" breathing room and I am sorry you can't find the first and best tool you ever bought for your Honda but despair not for a mere $11 you can download another one. Can I swap the motor in a 85 Suzuki gs550 with a 83 Honda cb900 motor?

If money is not an issue. The engine you are considering will not bolt up nor will the electric match. The 550 is built for a lighter engine. Yes you can do it... Should you for the $ is a different question.

I have a 1982 cb900 that makes a strange noise on

I would check the stator, if all looks good then move to the clutch side. I am thinking that it might be the clutch springs that have gone bad
