I would like to install a 12 volt receptacle on bars is there a breakout in the headlight pod &how do you remove headlight?

My headlights are only geting 6 volts, can you help?


Somebody has wired the (2) headlights in series. which will result in the 12 volts supply effectively halved. The headlights should be wired in parallel, with the two positive headlight terminals being connected to a 12 volt supply, and the two negative terminals connected to "ground".

24 volt trolling motor (motorguide) not working. Have 24 volts at receptacle in hull of boat but when I plug in the trolling motor and check the volts on the plug, I only read 6 volts. Any idea whats...


You have a high resistance short either inside the wiring or the lower unit. This will cause a voltage drop. I would be very careful not to keep it connected too long cuz the battery is trying to keep up with the current demand and may explode.

Headlights wont turn on


Hi, check the fuse for the headlight after shutting off your motorcycle.
There is usually a fuse box under or just near the seat area. Sometimes it is located adjacent to the motorcycle battery. Check your user manual for the fuses location.
If that fuse is OK, remove the headlight element and remove the headlight halogen lamp by gently removing the wiring plug and rotating the halogen lamp that is inside, so you can inspect it for damage. A blown halogen lamp is usually indicated by a white or dark spot inside the glass lamp.

If you have a multimeter set it to Ohms and see if you can get a circuit thru the pins on the rear of halogen lamp before re-installing the lamp. There will be 3 pins - one is a common, one is the low beam, and the other is high beam. You should get continuity using ohms thru each separate pin to the common pin.

Make sure you remove any greasy spots on the halogen lamp before you put it back, as this causes hot spots on the glass and is a common cause of early failures of halogen lamps.

If you are comfortable measuring 12 volts DC with a meter, check that you have 12 volts DC at each pin on the harness which connects to the halogen lamp. Your ignition key will need to be turned on so that indicators and horn etc are all powered up. You normally shouldn't have to have your engine running to check power to your headlight, but it is possible that you may need to do so.
There will be 12 volts on 1 pin only and when you change to high beam that pin will then go dead and the other pin will then have 12 volts DC.
There is also a small chance your headlight relay is bad or has a loose connection. If you know what you are doing it should be easy to locate the headlight relay, otherwise take it to a reputable auto electrician or motorcycle repair shop.

Cant find the fuse for the refrig. no power


Check connection for 12 volts, at back of fridge behind vent cover .(outside) Make sure 12 volts getting to the lugs where they join. If you have 12 volts to there, unplug fridge at receptacle usually on left side by back of fridge, just to be safe. Remove cover on circuit board and look for a blown (glass type fuse in there.)

Tag lights wont work on 2001 jimmy. I replaced the bulbs and they still wont work


remove the bulbs & check for 12 volt current with the light switch on using a multi meter or test light.(ground it to a clean spot on frame of the car) If there is dirt present in the receptacle sometimes it will not get a good ground. If you have 12 volts in the receptacle check the ground for continuity.

Not a big problem need to know if the headlights are 12volts


Your headlights are 12v. Your alternator puts out about 13.5 volts or so.

It is still a 12 volt system.

I have a Coleman Powermate 5000 / No power output


Two suggestions. One: check for voltage from the secondary coil wires (if it has one). Two: unless stated do not do this, I have always flashed the excitor circuit through the 120vac receptical. Give these a shoot and I hope it works for you.

TEST B: BATTERY VOLTAGE OUT OF RANGE - DTC B1676
1. Check if vehicle has been jump started within past 2 weeks. If vehicle has been jump started, ABS is
okay. If vehicle has not been jump started, go to next step.
2. Using DVOM, measure voltage between positive and negative battery terminals. If voltage is 9-19 volts,
go to next step. If voltage is not 9-19 volts, diagnose charging system. See appropriate GENERATORS
article in STARTING & CHARGING SYSTEMS.
3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 25-pin ABS control module. Install EEC-IV 60-pin Breakout Box (014-
00322). Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between breakout box terminal No. 20 and ground. If voltage
is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair Light Blue/Pink wire between
ABS control module and instrument panel fuse panel.
4. Turn ignition off. Measure voltage between breakout box terminal No. 25 and ground. If voltage is
greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair Red wire between ABS
control module and power distribution box/engine compartment fuse box.
5. Measure voltage between breakout box terminal No. 9 and ground. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go
to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair Yellow/Light Green wire between ABS control module
and power distribution box/engine compartment fuse box.
6. Measure resistance between breakout box terminal No. 8 and ground. Also, measure resistance between
breakout box terminal No. 24 and ground. If both resistance measurements are less than 5 ohms, replace
ABS control module and repeat self-test. If either resistance measurement is greater than 5 ohms, repair
suspect Black wire between ABS control module and ground distribution.
NOTE: DTC B1676 will set if vehicle has been jump started.
