The clutch plates and friction plates are getting worn, or your clutch cable is in need of adjustment

Clutch not engaging? If you have the bike in gear and engine not running...release the clutch you can still roll the bike? Can you feel proper tension on the clutch lever?

The clutch wont diengage

Might be time for a Clutch Slave Rebuild.

Has the Bike sat for many months? Sometimes the Clutches stick together because the oil , like, suctioned them together.
You can start the bike, hold in the clutch and kick it into first gear. It may stall out a few times but usually that will free up the clutches. Careful , the bike will lunge foward as yo kick it into gear

I have a 1994 Rm 125....Does the bike have to be running to see if the clutch works

No, put it in gear, pull in the clutch and push it. It may drag at first but then it should break loose and roll with little friction. You should also be able to kick it in gear with the clutch held in. This will tell you if it disengages but not if it will hold under heat and hard acceleration. So I guess the answer really is that you can check half of what a clutch should do. Good luck.

I noticed a button on the kick stand and remebered that one of my other bikes wont let me start the bike with the kick stand down. Is this also true with the Intruder?

possibly.
some bikes will let you start with the stand down, as long as the clutch is in, same with it in gear.
some bikes wont let it start at all in gear, or with the stand down.
All suzukis usually work the same.

Clutch

Hi, you might find the nut holding the clutch basket onto the shaft has come loose, so instead of pulling the clutch plates apart you are just pulling the clutch basket along the shaft.
or if the bike has sat for a while you might find the clutch plates have stuck together, this isn't that rare, you can start the bike and roll it along at about 1st gear speed, then click it into gear, then pull the clutch in and rev the engine, this should make the plates loose again. hope this helps, please rate, thanks, good luck

I put the bike in gear but when i pull the clutch lever in, it wont disengage and stays in gear??

if the clutch lever feels it has plenty of tension, it may just be the clutch plates stuck together from sitting.

Roll start it and ride around while holding in the clutch, vary the throttle, and they usually unstick. Give it an oil change when it warms up.

Clutch does not work bike rolls in gear

Sound like your clutch is out or maybe you can adjust your tension because it is lose and it is not grabbing.
