Check the battery like this:
Turn on the headlights, then try to start the car.
If the headlights do not dim or go out, then the battery is likely ok.
Check that the battery cable plus post, goes to the starter, Minus post to a good ground, like the engine.
If wiring is ok, then look at the starter solenoid for a good connection.
Problem is most likely the Solenoid or starting relay, whichever the car uses.
Hope this helps.

You have the solenoid exciter wire touch the bat terminal on the starter. You need to loosen the cable stud and turn and make sure it is not hitting the smaller terminal. the small wire should be going to the S post or terminal

My 2001 monte carlo wont turn over I have it hooked up to charger but when I turn the key it only ticks

Make sure the battery has a full charge. If you use a digital multimeter across battery posts, everything off, the generic spec for a full charge is around 12.6 volts.
If your using a jump box or charger, hopefully the gage on the tool will tell you something?
If you want to check the starter motor or wiring circuits at the starter motor, we can do that. If you try that, make sure tranny is in park or neutral and functional parking brake is set.

Turns over, but why doesn't it start?

It's probably a battery problem. Even if it starts once, it might not start again, so you're still left with the same problem. Either take the battery to be tested, or find someone with a "battery charger/starter" who can hook up and give you enough voltage to boost it to life. Good luck.

Have you hooked a scanner up to the computer to see what voltage the computer is reading at time of ignition? If the computer is having an issue registering the min required 9.6 volts, this could be why its working when a booster is applied, artifically spiking the voltage the computer is reading out

94 gmc sierra wont start turn key all lights come on but turn to start nothing

Did you check your battery? Just because all the lights come on does not mean you have enough power to crank the starter. Remove battery and have it load tested or put a charger on the battery for about 30 minutes and preferably a battery charger that has a 50 amp boost cycle, when trying to start the car. If it starts you probably have a bad battery. If it doesn't the start checking the positive and negative cables for corrosion or breaks. If all checks out then it's probably the starter is bad.

Engine turns over but won't

What you should do is load test your battery and have and starter draw test on the starting system.Make sure it isn`t drawing to much amperage and putting to much of a load on your battery.Good luck.

2005 gmc serria starting problem

It ma be a bad connection. Check the battery terminals and the cable going to the starter. Make sure the terminals are clean, and the connection is tight. You may also have an alternator going bad.
