Bike was starting perfect with old starter when bike cold but jammed when hot but since new starter installed & after 30 test repeated starts just seems to turn starter chain only. Seems odd starter clutch would go out so quickly when it was working perfectly before & starter chain spins one way but seems to have resistance the other way which should turn over the motor. Is there anthing else that could be amiss?

Will have to drop ingine to see if chain somehow off top sprocket

Will keep you posted, waiting for manual before any more weid surprises rear there ugly head.

Very poor design by HONDA buyer beware

Changing starter should be no brainer, never warned not to move bike to stop oil from leaking out starter hole!

This aparently knocks top chian off sprocket which fits my woes.

Oviously/ maybe chain somehow came off rotor assembly. Is there any way to put chain back on rotor assembly without taking motor out.

Still waiting for manual to arrive.

There is two bolts 10mm i thimk that holds starter on. you need to disconnect the battery first. Also disconnect the starter wire. Sometimes I drop the exhaust manifold if i feel like it. You can remove the starter to see if it is actually working by hooking it up to a battery. If the starter clutch assy is bad, you have to remove the frame rail, the engine, take off the 11 bolts from the rear cover, remove the alternator rotor assy, etc. This happens sometimes when the starter is good. Is good to have friend help when r&r engine..Hope this helps you with your scoot, Rick

Chain should spin one way real easy, a lot of resistance the other. There isn't much else in there to screw up since it goes around rotor assy, esp since your chain is good. I would guess its time to drop the engine, since I have done that on my other 'wing. Rick
