The engine oil drain plug is on the right side of the bike. Actually, it's a hose with a plug in it. Look just behind the chrome transmission clutch release cover on the right side of the bike. You'll see a large diameter hose that should be held to the frame by a clip with a metal plug in it. Just loosen the hose clamp and drain the oil from the tank. Remove the oil tank dip stick for faster drainage.

on the oil tank there should be a drain hose that goes down and hitches to the frame on the bottom of the frame there should be a drain bolt. That is your engine oil drain plug and should be on the right side

Sound like you pulled the wrong plug to me. The oil drain plug in under your bike. Look at the oil tank from the right side of your bike. Near the rear of the tank, there's a large hose that runs downward towards the rear of the transmission. It continues down and looks like it connects to a crossmember on the frame. If you'll look under that crossmember, you'll find a plug that uses an Allen wrench or hex key to remove.
Do not remove the oil line that goes from the tank to the engine. However, you said that you found it to be plugged. Plugged with what? If the oil infeed line got plugged, it's because something has gotten into the tank. Drain the tank and check to find out what is inside the tank.

There's a hose coming off the backside of the oil tank on the right side underneath it. This hose goes down behind the transmission and on down to the lower part of the frame behind the exhaust system. Depending on the year, there will be a plug in the end of the hose that is held by a clip on the frame. On later models, the hose connects to the cross member of the frame with a drain plug that screws up from underneath the cross member.
