Question about 2008 Harley Davidson FLHTCU Ultra Classic Electra Glide
Posted by Anonymous on
Hi Anonymous, try loosening your right handlebar switch housing and pushing it up against the front brake master cylinder with one hand and retighten the housing screws with the other. If that doesn't work check continuity of the rear brake light switch with a test lite. if it lites on both posts without the rear brake pedal being depressed then you have a bad switch and needs to be replaced. Good luck

SOURCE: Brake light straying on
There is 2 switches on your bike (like most motorcycles) and one of them is stuck on, broken, or the linkage to it is damaged!
The Front switch is actually part of the master cylinder /lever, and the rear switch is actuated when the right side brake pedal is depressed.
You will need to take a multimeter and check them both for a short with no power on using an ohmmeter. Another way is to disconnect the plug going to the switches & check the brake lite to see if it goes off & if it does that particular switch is in trouble and may need to be replaced.
The neutral light issue is probably a blown lamp.

SOURCE: brake light stays on
hand break switch was broken (inside the wire housing) not allowing the hand break lever to deactive, therefore causing the brake system to stay on.
