Question about 2007 Harley Davidson FXSTB Softail Night Train
This problem could be a couple of different things. There is a sensor on the engine that detects oil pressure. If the pressure gets low enough it will trip the oil light. It could be a fault with the sensor and it is sensing that the oil pressure is low and it actually is not.
It could be that the sensor is good and you actually have low oil pressure. If the oil pressure is actually low a few things that could cause this are 1: You have low oil level or improper grade of oil in the engine. 2: Mechanical issue inside the engine. Example, Bad oil pump or oil pump drive, a faulty oil pickup, or bottom end issues like a spun or bad crankshaft bearing.
Either way I would investigate the problem before I ran the engine any more.
