Have you checked all the wiring going to and from the starter? Check it with a multimeter to see where and if your starter is getting juice. If you need a diagram let me know. Once you have done that let me know and we can go from there.
Thank you,
Lee

So your not getting power to the solenoid then when you turn the key? correct? Once you jump the starter does everything operate normally?
    Thanks,

    Yes,
It does have a neutral safety switch as well as your tip over sensor, The tip over sensor can be disabled to check if thats the issue. Also make sure I highly recommend you pick up the service manual for the bike and it will have all the information you need and really is the only source for that information. Here is a link as an example they can be picked up pretty cheap and is definitely a wise investment.

Also just to make clear you are or are not getting spark? Also check for loose connections in the wiring harness. Here are the other basics to go through first just to make sure.
    clutch lever pulled in?

    in neutral?

    Kickstand up?

    Kill switch in run position?

Main ignition fuse good? (below seat)

Clutch safety relay good? (in fuse box, in front of right clip on.)
Once you have found my assistance helpful please take a moment to accept and rate my solution accordingly. If you need further assistance let me know.
    Thank you,

Got 2001 gsxr 600! bike starts in (N) but stalls out when put in gear?????

Check you side stand safety switch . Suzuki uses a system that kills the motor if you put it in gear with the side stand down or put the side stand down while it is in gear and it is running.

According to the suzuki guys, there is no "D" code, it is a speedo error, and the problem lies within the damaged left side. It says that the speed sensor is in there, along with a couple other things. I would pull the cover off again and look for the slightest damage to wires there, and then follow them. Hope this helps.

could be clutch, but check for bent shifter lever or adjustment. Indicator switch could be faulty but you would see it more with neutral light coming on false. If you bang gears (power shift ) or clutchless shift the dog could be bad also

Get yourself a repair manual and find out what it says, but I think you are correct, the return spring is either broken or it has slipped. Try this site for a freebie manual:

The transmission on your bike is not syncronized like a cars trans. When you are trying to shift from neutral at speed you must slow down to allow the gears to mesh. As far as having to rock the bike into gear sometimes, I have owned eighteen motorcycles of different sizes and makes and have had to rock all of them at one time or another to get them in gear. again lack of syncronization. It really doesn't sound as if you have a problem.

    Clutch lever removal

You need to loosen the adjustment at the inside of the lever as loose as you can, then use the slack in the cable to bring the holder down and out a small slot in the lever. You should not have to disconnect the cable at the transmission end but if you still find it impossible to remove, doing so will give you a bit of extra slack too.
