SOURCE: I have a 1996 Vulcan 88 1500. Cranks but will not start.

Is there gas? Is the petcock on? Are you getting gas to the carbs? Are you getting spark? If yes to all these then you may have timing issues.

SOURCE: Battery keeps dying in my Kawasaki 900

possible reg/rec issue or the stator....if you have a multi meter you can check the stator by unplugging and hooking up to the stator (component side), set multi meter to volts a/c and connect each plug for voltage. then do a residence test on the stator.
reg/rec issue, make sure you have proper ground, do a diode test to make sure that it is d/c and not a/c

I jumped car off it crunk on its own fora day, then batt went dead again, this time it won't jump off. It wants to crank but won't turn over.

not sure what you said but.
seems the battery is discharging,? 12.6v is fully charged,
own a voltmeter?
try a good loaned battery , does it start the car,?
i think you meant?
i can jumper cable start my car at any time. (off another running car)
but after running my car, the battery discharges and it will not crank at all. right?
this means ,the charging system on your car is bad.
if the starter cranks great, then the engine is flooded or is in great need of a tune up (sparkplugs etc)
if flooded try the super secret in the op guide, crank with throttle wide open , this magic trick cuts all fuel injection allowing the flooding
to purge away, and eventual starting.
my guess 2 is the car wont start, so you crank the battery flat
you jumper start it and it runs. (luck)
then day 2, same deal cranks ok but wont start.. ever tune up the engine?

Car cranks but will not idle

If it starts and runs, but won't idle, could be a vac leak, dirty throttle body, or faulty idle air control valve.

2003 ford taurus 3.0 Vulcan cranks strong, you can smell the gas but it won't start. I tried replacing the ignition coil with no results.

It is one of two things. Crank shaft sensor, on timing cover, behind crank pulley. Or the camshaft syncronizer, or the camshaft sensor (sits on top of Camshaft syncronizer) Located on drivers side end of engine, in what used to be the home of the old type distributor.

Suzuki vl 1500 wount turn over been getting more and more harder to turn over. replaced battery starter motor selonod think it is a compreshon problem as i can bump start it no problemm any one had this...

I had the same problem on my VL1500. I THINK it gets "flooded" with fuel and then the cylinder is full and will NOT turn. I have used jumper-cables to start the bike when it will not turn over.

I now start my bike with this procedure:
1. Do NOT touch the throttle.
2. Switch on the power.
3. Do NOT touch the throttle.
4. Press the "Start" button and crank the engine a little (1 - 2 seconds)
5. Do NOT touch the throttle.
6. Keep cranking the engine (another 1 - 2 seconds)
7. Open the throttle a VERY LITTLE (approx. 1/10 turn of throttle). keep the throttle slightly open while the engine cranks.
8. Keep cranking the engine and wait for engine to start (another 1 - 10 seconds).

It is still not a perfect start, but at least the engine cranks over now.

Remember that the VL1500 has a "decompression" system that opens the outlet valve for 2 cranks of the engine.

I suggest you FIRST make sure the engine cranks over (NO throttle), and THEN concentrate on starting the big V Twin.

Hard start sometimes wont start after fuel pump was replaced

Replace the fuel filter before the pump goes bad, just paid $700 to replace OEM withan aftermarket fuel pump and filter (better than $900 quoted by another shop. Had I changed the filter sooner, may have avoided. Now dealing with a bad intake mfld gsked and old leaking oil cooler lines. Help, GM is killing me!! These vehicles are notorious for various issues.

Good luck
