SOURCE: rear fender alignment needed. Fender not centered

On most Softails, the rear fender is not centered on the wheel. If you take your tanks and seat off, stretch a string from the steering head of the frame to the back past the rear fender and align it with the top tube of the frame, you'll see that the rear fender is centered with the centerline of the frame. The rear wheel is offset. It will tell you this in the service manual. Before you start disassembling your bike, take a look at a few other Softails. I think you'll find that they are the same way.

Good Luck

First you need to take off the trunk, saddlebags, mounting hardware, take off seat, take off bar that was under seat, take off rear wheel, take off rear fender, Remove the plastic under fender, drain tank, take off fuel petcock, you may have to get a shock or two out of the way, at any rate you should now get the big picture . What to look for as I remove the rear wheel. Shaft Drive

Center stand the bike or lift the rear wheel off the ground, loosen the rear axle nut, take out the axle bolt, knock out the spacer, unscrew the rear brake adjuster nut, unbolt the rear brake panel stop arm, grab the wheel, and slide it sideways away from the final drive. The wheel should slide right off the spline of the final drive and roll out the back under the fender. If the wheel won't slide past the final drive let the air out of the tire. Be sure to coat the spline of the final drive with moly60 paste from your local Honda dealer when reassembling.

1994 Honda Accord 4 door. Fender removal to adjust door.

Should have kept going-it's just screws or bolts, but some are almost hidden-like front of fender and rear along door opening. Take off fender lining and look some more.
I sort of know what you mean-can be hard to get to the door hinges. have you tried like a universal joint in your ratchet and socket?
