The problem is an air leak leaning the fuel mix. The idle speed starts going up a ramp until it is wide open. The valves no longer seating well is a possible cause as is carb manifold gaskets, rings and a cylinder head not torqued down tight.

Likely that it may have a fuel block and may seem to be idling ok until it clears and revs high because youve got the idle to high. If not that tombones49 pretty much has it nailed

Hi, Bob and you won't unless you contact Skyteam or Jincheng directly 47 years ago I worked at a Honda Dealership in sales your JC-90 looks exactly like a 1970 Honda Trail 70 which leads me to believe that your engine is also a Honda 90 engine for more information about your question and valuable "FREE" downloads that you will need please click on the blue links below. Honda CT 110 carby settings

Hi, Anonymous it should be noted that the "AIR FUEL" mixture screw adjustment "ONLY" manages your idle and has no effect on any other circuit also any intake leaks must be repaired before the A/F adjustment procedure can be performed otherwise you will never obtain a proper idle and you will waste a lot of time chasing the impossible. The A/F mixture screw's purpose is to fine tune the fuel charge entering the combustion chamber. The following applies to both 2 and 4 stroke engines:
1. The mixture screw may be sealed at the factory with a Welch Plug please review the following video for removal.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAXcksgvDkM
2. The mixture screw manages a range of 3 complete 360-degree counterclockwise turns from the bottom/closed position.
3. The mixture screw should have a spring and o-ring for tension and sealing integrity.
4. Turn the mixture screw clockwise until it gently bottoms out, this makes the fuel charge very lean and the engine should not idle if it does then the pilot/idle jet is too big and needs to be replaced with the next size smaller.
5. Turn the mixture screw 1 and 1/2 turns counterclockwise to establish a baseline for starting the engine.
6. To fine-tune the idle circuit, adjust the mixture screw 1/4 turn in or out to achieve maximum idle RPM, wait 15 seconds between each adjustment for the idle to settle.
7. Never go past 3 full turns out this will make the fuel charge rich, foul plugs, and produce black smoke out of the exhaust, if the engine RPM keeps increasing past 3 turns the pilot/idle jet is too small and needs to be replaced with the next size larger.
8. After achieving maximum idle back out the mixture screw another 1/8 of a turn then adjust the throttle cable idle stop screw to 950-1050 RPM.
9. This procedure works great on 99% of all engines, for the 1% that demand a more robust throttle response on aftermarket monster fuel delivery systems additional tweaking outside the box may be necessary.

1981 Honda CT110 trail. Runs perfect for about 5 miles then dies. Starts a couple times each time slowly idling down until it dies then it will not start again for until it sits for an hour or so. I...

It sounds like you still have dirt floating around. What did you coat the tank with? I used POR-15 with great results. Install a gas filter that you can see through and see if you are still getting dirt from the tank. Check the new carb for dirt. It sounds like something is somewhat plugged which allows gas to slowly fill your carb after it sits. But this clog is what causes your bike to stop after 5 miles. Does your tank have a shutoff valve? Run a line from the valve to a jar and see how well the gas flows. The shutoff valves usually have a screen....check it for dirt.

I have a Honda 1981 650 custom, The idle seems very slow and it tends to shut off when sitting at lights. How do I adjust the idle up on this?

There is an idle adjustment screw that hangs down underneath the carburetor rack between the second and third carburetors. It usually has a black plastic knob about 1/2 inch across on it. Turning the knob will raise or lower the idle speed on all four carburetors at once.
