Question about 1984 Honda GL 1200 Aspencade Gold Wing
I removed the gas line from the spicket and some black **** came out of the spicket. Figured I need to drain and clean the tank. Spicket is higher than the bottom of the tank so I assume the tank is pressurized. I used my compressor to blow into the tank through the fill hole with some rags jamed in with the hose. Was tedious be seemed to work alright.
I still would prefer to remove the tank and turn it upside down to drain it and then wash it out with hot water and let it dry.
I have everything off the tank I can find and I still can't budge it to get it out of the frame.
How do I get the tank out to clean it, or should I just fill it with hot water while its in the bike and then blow the water out and let it dry that way.
Or you got a better idea?
Water promotes rust. Go to the paint store and get some varnish remover. Put a gallon in the tank and follow manufacturers directions.Don't get any remover on the outside of the tank!
Considering the age of the bike I would get a liquid tank liner.
Google “ kreem fuel tank liner “ or go to www.http://www.4secondsflat.com/Fuel_Tank_Sealer.html
