I rebuilt the carbs on my GL1100 aspencade but am still getting engine loading when going uphill at 65mph in 5th gear. Can anyone give me some advice on what to fix or check next.

I had same problem, clutch is oil bath type, check oil level in engine, if not full the first thing to happen is loss of power in 5th gear going up hill. Full level, loss of power GONE!!! Lynn Ed.

Hooked brake lights up and it stopped starting and all lights stopped working when u turn key on i got new battery and rectafifer on it

Hi, Steve and the usual suspects are:
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Bank angle sensor tripped and ignition/light key switch not cycled to the "OFF" position and then back to the "ON" position.
5. Faulty starter button/switch.
6. Faulty jiffy stand or clutch pull in switch/sensor.
7. Security alarm needs a reset.
8. Starter control circuit, relay, or solenoid faulty.
9. Main fuse or circuit breaker blown or faulty.
10. Electric starter shaft pinion gear is not engaging or over-running starter clutch slipping.

96 escort 1.9 manual jerking while accelerating 96 escort 1.9 manual

best advice is dont go 40mph in 5th gear... if you are going up a hill at 40mph in 5th gear i have no doubt that it is jerking, your putting too much stress on the engine. shift up to 4th or 3rd you will be fine. 5th gear is an overdrive gear. 55+mph

The ranger has a common problem with lunging or jerking when in 4th or 5th gear going uphill or accelerating. I have replaced all firing components, fuel components, timing belt, rear end is fine. Does...

I am assuming your transmission is a 5speed manual. What is the tachometer reading when you experience this jerking in 5th gear? It sounds like the engine is being lugged. If you are trying to pull a hill or accelerate in 5th gear at less than 40 or 45mph, you need to downshift to a lower gear.

1983 aspencade will barely run have eliminated all but spark units none are available help fuel system is ok compression is normal coils test good

Your Honda GL1100, as with all carbureted Honda GoldWings, has the most sensitive and complex carburetors of any motorcycle. It only takes about six months worth of sitting for them to become gummed up and plugged up. You said the fuel system is okay, and hopefully it is, but be ready for needed carb work, if it isn't.
Below are the instructions for testing the spark units. I hope this helps you to get it going again.

How do I remove the false gas tank on a 1984 honda goldwing

You can pick up a complete owners/service manual as well as the parts manual on cd. I got mine for my GL1100, then when I upgraded to my GL1200, I picked up another set from the same person.
Contact Wanda G at I believe she still sells the cd's for around $7.00 including the shipping anywhere in the US.
When I got mine, she included both the owners/service manual and the parts manual. Pretty big to download, at around 200mb.
Manuals are good enough, I just rebuilt my engine, and all 4 carbs and I'm no mechanic.
