2000 Fatboy throwing a 417 code.

First thing to do is try getting error codes from the ECM. Possible that the ECM is faulty or will throw a code that might tell you what to look for. How does it run normally? Did it exhibit rough idle, loss of power and lousy fuel economy? Next question - have the coil packs ever been replaced? Ignition coil packs have a typical life of about 10 years before they start breaking down. This is just a stab in the dark but maybe test the packs.

The distributor is not for ignition,it is for fuel injector timing

Under the plate in the dist is a Hall Effect Sensor you referred to
just for that

Move the dist as if your timing the ignition & your done
It gets set with a volt meter for the hall effect only

Ignition comes out of the fender mounted( we will call)
computer ,as I forget it's correct name.

When you turn the key on do you hear the fuel pump

On the fender,driver side, in the box is an Auto Shut Down Relay
common an alot of older chrysler products

I have a 1992 Dakota OE Manual so let me know how it goes

86 to present according to my local dealer,, the changes were to the rear fender only as it widened

hopefully you replaced motor with the same Rpm HP Volts and made sure the rotation of fan was correct.. Might have a bad/defective motor I would take it back to whomever you purchased it from as the should exchange it. Good Luck

It may be the battery. It also happened to my Yamaha Virago 1100

If you used a regular car battery booster yes you could have caused serious damage to your charging system. Way too much amperage for it.

2000 and later fatboy fenders will fit anything pre 2000 will not fit
