I assume you have checked and that you do have spark.
Remove the water trap bowl at the bottom of the petcock, (gas valve). Is there any water or trash in the bowl? Drain a cup of gas from the tank. Is there any water or trash in the cup? Dump it, clean it and re-mount it, ( not all bikes have a water trap bowl ).

Drain the carburetor. There should be a screw on the lower side of the carb float bowl. Remove the screw then replace it after the fuel drains. Turn the gas back on and wait a minute for the carb to fill with gas. Install a new stock NGK spark plug and try to start the engine. If the bike doesn't start and run properly then shut off the gas and remove the carburetor from the engine.

Remove the float bowl and clean the entire carb with a spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray into all the little airways and fittings in the carb. Remove the idle screw and the air screw on the outside throat of the
carb and spray into the screw holes as well.
Be sure to put these two screws back in the same hole they came out of. IMPORTANT > do not tighten these two screws down. Only screw these in until they LIGHTLY seat. Now turn each screw one and one half turns outward. Put the rest of the
carb back together, clean the air filter and install the carb. Let the float bowl fill then start the engine.

Please rate this solution. Thanks!

I had a similar problem, it was the choke cable had rusted to were it would not move enough to choke properly.  I used rust remover and freed the cable and put back together and the bike started right up.

I have a 2006 suzuki gz 250 this week it started tapping the oil is fine well today it stalled on me and won't crank it has fire and will turn over but i'm thinking it may be the timing what is your...

if you heard the tapping noise even after the engine warmed up i suspect your valve clearances are out of spec. i would check these or send it to a reputable shop to do this for you.

My suzuki 2001 gz250 wont start

Fuel from the tank is not being delivered to the engine. Trace the hose from the fuel tap down to the carburetor (fuel injector) and remove the hose. Fuel should run freely in a thin stream from the hose while the fuel tap is 'on'. If nothing or almost nothing, check the filter screen in the fuel tap for plugging--soak in spray-can-carburetor cleaner for a while, then retry fuel from the hose.

I doubt its electrical in that sense.

Sounds like the oil is thick. Do you know what weight oil was installed last? If there was 40 weight put in and its getting colder out it get thicker. You can change the oil to a 30 weight and change the filter to see if that helps.

Starts fine one day, battery seems dead the next

The first thing to do is take the battery out and have it charged and tested. I am betting that it is bad. If the battery turns out to be good you have an open circut draining the battery, but like I said I'm betting on the battery being bad.

Seems like front brake engaged

Is yr bike fitted with disc brakes to the front?
If yes thn you will have to overhaul the brake calipers, it seems the pistons have jammed in there probabely due to rust on it at the pitted areas.
Better still is to overhaul the brake mastercylinder too.
Good luck

Problem start bike. Push a starter and only clik , bike wont start. Suzuki 250gc 2004

Sounds like a bad battery. Try charging overnight with a 1 or 2 amp charger.
If this doesn't help then go to the dealer and ask for the stock plugs for your bike. Check for spark on each of the new plugs then install the plugs.

Remove the carbs , dissemble it and clean the varnish out. Remove the petcock, ( gas valve ),water trap and clean it out. Next let one cup of gas flow into a container. Any water or rust in the bottom of the container? If any rust was in the water trap or the container then purchase an inline fuel filter to eliminate the rust getting into the carb.

If cleaning the carb yourself does not do the trick then take it to the dealer and have them clean it and install a carb kit. This should eliminate the carb as a problem. Get a new air filter and install it.

Now you have spark, gas and air. If it still will not start it is likely that you need new crank seals. On a bike that old you may well need new crank bearings as well.

2002 suzuki gz 250 marauder won't start when you hit the starter. lights work . has not been rode for a year. was in a shed

Pull the fuel hose off to see if fuel will run out when the fuel tap is 'on'. If nothing, check the tap filter screen for plugging and clean it with spray carburetor cleaner. If you get fuel to run out, try checking the float needle in the carburetor for sticking.
