to start the bike by the electric start the clutch lever has to be pulled in. Also, the nuetral light will not illuminate whether the bike is running or not running.

Here are the possibilities > > Bent clutch push rod, missing push rod ball bearing or push rod, worn out actuator shaft cam, Missing friction disk (5), or pressure plate (4), totally worn out friction disks, clutch plates not installed in the correct sequence, extremely weak clutch springs, stripped teeth on the clutch hub, wrong clutch cable length (inner cable vs outer cable), broken shaft, bent then broken shift fork stems, broken slider gear dogs and a missing shift fork pin.

You didn't say if anyone had worked on the clutch or gearbox so I am throwing in nearly EVERYTHING possible that could create the problem. A little more background and most of the above can be ruled out. Get back to us.

Hi, Derek assuming you're talking about your 1981 Sportster and the engine is running and you pull the clutch lever and shift into 1st and let the clutch lever out and the bike does not move then you may have the following issues:
1. Clutch not engaging.
2. The transmission is not in gear.
3. There is a broken component inside the transmission.

How do i start my scooter with no key and no kickstart

No key?
You would need to hotwire the ignition. If you got caught with a hotwired bike the cops would start to ask hard questions.

No Kick start?
If it has a manual clutch you can turn the ignition on put it into second gear run push the bike up to running speed jump on it and release the clutch quickly to engage the engine. If its a centrifugal clutch (twist and go!) you cant bump start it.

But reading your question, I would ask whether you scooter is road worthy. Running and jumping on a moving bike with live electrical cables hanging out of it in a fuel rich environment is probably not a good idea!

My Bajaj Discover 125 DTSi showing a problem that whenever the vehicle ride through rain or after washing, chocking / missing happens. Bike starts but not able to move when we load gear and releases...

Dear Friend,

I was also facing the same problem with my Discover125 for a while. When i went to the service centre they said it happens with most of the Discover users.According to them there may be a possiblity of water going inside the Carburator and due to that this missing is happening.Earlier my choke was not working, but now i have rectified my choke assy and i use the choke when ever i face this problem and the bike runs ok. Even though i am not able to solve this problem permanently, i can ride my bike without much problem.Still i am trying to solve this problem permanently. If you find any solution please mail me to

Best regards..

Im having trouble with my 2002 rm 250 clutchs... when i start to run the bike the cluth get like stuck or something and wildly releases at any moments and the bike runs off... its barely imposble to run...

  • A couple of things could be wrong. The clutch cable center wire could be frayed and catching up on the outer shell.
  • The clutch cable is bent or has been hit and crushed.
  • The outer and/or inner clutch hub is grooved and the friction plates are hanging up in the grooves.
  • You changed the gearbox oil and put in synthetic oil or an oil with "Special" additives. Synthetics can swell the cork on the friction plates and cause problems. Only use 10w40 motor oil in the gearbox.
  • A bad needle bearing at the pressure plate or on the shaft
  • The clutch was re-assembled incorrectly.

How do I change on my Buell M2 cyclone?

First be sitting on the bike, what you will need do do is hold onto the handel bars and start the beast, let it warm for a minut or two.

Once you have done this you are almost redy to change :-)

Ok heres here it get interesting, youll need to rest you left foot on the left foot peg what ever you do don't get confused and put the wrong foot on the wrong foot peg or somthing really bad might happen when you make the change!!.
Ok assuming that you've done that youll need to pull the clutch in, once youve done that gentley but firmley stomp on the gear leaver (Its the one on the lefthand side of the bike just infront of the left hand foot peg)

OK, you've now made the first change!!!! from here youll want to gentley release that clutch, once you feel the BUELL start to move your gonna wanna give it a handfull of throttle whilst ajusting your left foot to be directley underneath the BUELL, once you foot is inline quickley grab that clutch in again and lift you foot thats underneath gear leaver, rince and repeat :-)
