Question about 1977 kawasaki KE 125

It cuts out at high rpm but the plug is fine.

I think its starving for gas at high rpm. Its a 1977 kawasaki 200

Pull the spark plug. If the porcelain cone is whitish then change the main jet to a higher number i.e.. 178 original main jet changes to a 180 or a 182 if needed.

If the porcelain cone is blackish or sooty then change to a lower number i. e. 178 down to a 175 or 172.

Have DR650 motorcycle, seems to be fuel starved at higher revs, cutting out, replaced filter, and drained carby no better, any suggestions?


Check the Tank vent, If it's starving or cutting out it may be creating a vacuum on the tank. Open the tank a bit and see if it still starves at higher RPM. If it runs fine, Located the vent tube and lean it out or clean the vent on the gas cap either way. If it's still starving for fuel, then look at the petcock. If it's one of the vacuum diaphragm auto types, the diaphragm is probably bad and will need to be replaced. Dump it and get a manual valve.

It sounds like something may have shorted, come loose, or burned out.
Tracing where this is will take time and a multimeter to test all connections.

Why does my DT125 splutter at hight revs


Sounds like either the bike is starving for gas at higher RPM's, or you're hitting the rev limiter.

My 1995 zzr250 started cutting out on me whilst traveling at about 100km the other day. I slowed down and then it cut out. Managed to start her back up and got her home. Yesterday i gave her a service...


Hi, Carver_c and the usual suspects are:
1. Idle circuit and transfer ports clogged.
2. Air fuel mixture adjustment too lean.
3. Pilot jet clogged.
4. Faulty accelerator pump.
5. Float level too low.
6. Float bowl contaminated old fuel, water, dirt, rust, etc.
7. Float bowl vent or overflow tube clogged.
8. Fuel flow to carburetor restricted.
9. Intake manifold leak.
10. The gas cap is not venting properly or fuel tank venting system blocked.
11. Vacuum line from intake manifold to petcock broken, cracked, or not attached, carburetor vent line plugged.
12. Needle and seat stuck closed in the float bowl.
13. Multi carburetors not in sync.

I have recently put a jet kit in my 1999 kawasaki zx6E! It seems that when i get it at a really high RPM in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th gear, it spits and sputters like its starving for fuel. I was wondering if...


Your not reaching the RPM level for your rev limiter are you? The rev limiter will automatically shut fire off intermittently to keep the motor from damage at high RPM's. I have to admitt I am not up to par an all these newer bikes, but if you jetted the carbs, then I doubt you have a fuel pump on the bike. Most bikes with fuel pumps use fuel injection! Call the dealer who sold you the jets and ask them what else needs to be done, I am sure they will be glad to help.

What causes a Kawasaki 185 Bayou to miss at high rpm?


spark plug is too hot for the bike , change for a cooler one .
flotter in the carbi may be stuck or needle in the carbi may be dirty or wrongly set .
the bike could starve for full at high revs

Yamaha TW 200 cuts out at high rpm


I have a tw200 and when I have this problem its from the cam chain slipping back a notch when I unload it from my truck. I leave it in gear so when I let off the cluch it acts as a brake. I ride by my self so thats why I load it that way. I am guessing you load and unload your tw the same way. So remove the timing cover and make sure you are tdc on both the upper and lower timing marks. The bike will run if the timming is off a bit. It's really easy to set the timing on these bikes. It's easier to look for how to on the xt 200 if you need more help.

Starving for air


i have had the same problem..and these engine are supposed to b a very low idle (around) 300rpms. check your vacuum lines on the engine there is a plastic tee on the top of the motor which usually dry rots and will have a hairline crack in it and replace if needed

Sounds like you have no Torque converter lock up function. The wiring connector for T/C lockup solenoid must have been disturbed or the solenoid is bad. No lock up will make a 200 RPM difference in high gear
