Sounds like your in to high of a gear to pull smoothly at that rpm.if its ok at slightly higher rpm then this is your problem

I am having the same problem suddenly. It's not that I'm changing too early, it happens no matter what speed I change into 6th at - as soon as the engine puts some load into 6th gear, it jumps, or jerks every 2 or 3 seconds.
I'm guessing gearbox, but could there be something electrical that kicks in when you're in top gear?

Honda Cb 400 Super Four replacement of engines to newer versions

Hi, Dino_perera parts swapping is common with most motorcycles when it comes to interchangeable or compatible parts from one model with another the best thing to do is call your local Dealership Parts Department or a reputable independent shop. If your location is not near a shop then go online and find a parts catalog or "FICHE" and match part numbers depending on your criteria.

Hi, Bryant and the usual suspects are:
1. Low coolant level.
2. Restricted radiator air flow.
3. Faulty thermostat.
4. Coolant pump or fans inoperative.
5. Vent hose crimped.
6. Air in the coolant and needs bleeding.
7. Engine idling too long or bike moving too slow.
8. Coolant too old needs to be replaced.
9. Faulty temperature sensor, wiring or connector.

I hv a Super Four Hyper VTEC (Jul 2000). When I kicked into gear 1 fr neutral, the engine stalled. It was only ok after about 5 to 6 times of restarting the bike. What cld be the problem?

your side stand switch is faulty, its has a safty device to kill the motor if put in gear with the stand down, unplug it and check it with an ohm meter, up should read 000 and down will read 999
Up completes the circuit and down interrupts the circuit.

The wire may have been hit from something in the road or became brittle from heat and started to break and now has resistance. Fix or replace the broken or bad wires.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Seated on the bike, the lefthand ignition coil powers sparkplugs 1 & 4 while the righthand ignition coil powers sparkplugs 2 & 3.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

Your carb may be adjusted a little lean. Try adjusting the needle, keeping track of the changes you make, and blipping the throttle full to check the result.
