Question about 2008 kawasaki Ninja 250R

1 Answer

I have a 2007 Kawasaki Ninja that will not start. I only have 48 miles on it. I've changed the battery but it still won't turn over. Can you help? or give me a suggestion on what I should do. It sat in the Garage over the winter so I don't know if that did some harm to it.

When I try to start it, it will not turn over. I have not checked the fuses but I changed the battery. The lights work, the horn works. The kill switch is in the ON position and the bike is in neutral. I just bought the bike brand new this time last year and only rode it about 5 times.

I will try that but I don't know. The bike is pretty heavy. I will also check the fuses. It was actually running a few days ago, I let it warm up for like 10 mins., but soon as I tried to take off it cut off and since then it hasn't been back on. Thats when I decided to take the battery to Pet Boys and they told me the Battery was gone due to the cold. So bought another and installed it but now the freaking bike won't even turn over. It cranks but won't fire up...I will probably end up taking back to the dealership that I bought it from..it's just a pain because i'd have to tow the bike or rent something to get it there. But I will try push-starting it...if you have any other suggestions let me know.

Try push-starting the bike. Will it run?

What happens when you try to start it? Have you checked the fuses? What is the battery voltage? Do the lights come on when you turn on the ignition? Is the kill switch off? Is the bike in neutral?

Change the gear to neutral and check the kill switch to be on. take the bike off side stand as it may be caused by side stand swich. If your battery is charged it should have enough power to trun the lights on. Check the lights by trurning the ignition to on and turning the lights on. Try starting the engine. If it cranks the battery is fine you should check gas as the second step.

Why wont my 09 ninja 650 run

Hi, Keith and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel tank empty.
2. Fuel supply valve/petcock turned off.
3. Fouled spark plugs.
4. Engine flooded as a result of overuse of the enricher.
5. Vacuum hose to the fuel supply valve/petcock disconnected, broken, cracked, or pinched.
6. Fuel valve/petcock or filter clogged.
7. Fuel line to the carburetor or throttle body pinched or kinked.
8. Carburetor float stuck.
9. Fuel injectors clogged.
10. Severely discharged or damaged battery you need 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary.
11. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
12. Loose or corroded wire connection at the coil, battery or plug between ignition sensor and CDI box.
Spark plug cables in bad condition and shorting check for leakage in the dark, cable connections loose, or connected to the wrong cylinders.
13. Ignition timing incorrect due to a faulty MAP, CKP, O2, TPS, sensors.
14. Faulty neutral, clutch lever, or kickstand safety switch.
15. Faulty fuel pump or fuse or relay.
16. Faulty CDI box.
17. A stuck bent or burnt valve.
18. Tip over sensor needs a reset.
19. Check for engine trouble codes.

Zx6r 2004. Bike ran great for two months. Went out to dinner last night and came out to my bike not starting. Trailered it home, started when taking off trailer. Went for a 15 minute ride and parked it....

Hi, Matt it saddens me to inform you that you have to put on your Battery Priest Robe and prepare yourself for the Ceremonial "LOAD TEST" but before you begin, maintenance type batteries must be topped off with distilled Holy Water and all batteries must present their terminals to the battery charging altar to receive the electrical infusion of Holy Ions until they have reached a 100% full charge of 12.5 volts or better.
Below is a quick and easy test to see if your battery is in good condition or needs Last Rites and must be replaced.
1. Start by disconnecting the spark plug cables.
2. Adjust voltmeter to DC volts 20-volt range
3. Place the voltmeter leads to the battery terminals.
4. Turn the run/off switch to run.
5. Turn the ignition switch on and press the starter button.
6. Watch the voltmeter as your engine turns over for 15 seconds.
7. If the voltage drops below 9.5 volts, the battery is faulty and must be replaced.
