well what parts need to be replaced if he lapped the valves. And how hard would it be to fix. Because local shop is a rip off i will order the parts through them then either fix it myself or take to one of my friends

Sounds like time for a top end job. New valve guides, ( lap the valves ), new piston and rings and possibly a new bore. Some bikes have nickle coated sleeves and cannot be bored, You can get a new nickle sleeve to replace the old one. Your dealer will be the best person to say if you need a new sleeve or not. Parts are around $275 with a new sleeve.

Your best buddy didn't put a shot of oil in the gas tank did he? Drain the tank and put the gas in your lawn mower. Sorry to be the one with the bad news. At least now ya know what ya gotta do.

Please rate this answer. Thanks gunman_54321 < cool name

Yes, and three weeks before he decided to sell it he rode the woods all day with hardly any oil in the crankcase. It don't take long if ya forget the oil. Let's withhold judgment until the jug is pulled. If the piston, rings and cylinder are good then you are ahead of the game. He may have lapped the valves but I will wager he did nothing with the valve guides. Some of the oil could be coming from a leaking oil seal in the head.

    Thanks for the top rating!

White Smoke Coming from Engine?

It sounds like you need a good mechanic to fix your oil leaks. It's probably the valve cover gasket leaking oil on the cylinder head and it's running down on the hot exhaust manifold.

When i start my 1999 cadillac diville alot of blue smoke comes out of the exuast and when i come to a stop then go it smokes out the car behind me and continues to smoke through out the drive whats wrong

My guess is the engine is burning alot of oil.
Usually rings or valve guides which require the engine to be repaired.
More than a quart every 500 miles is alot.
Its possible you have a problem with the venting system for the crankcase which includes the PCV valve and air cleaner.

2002 yamaha ttr 225 idles high when let off gas but eventually idles down on its own and hard to start when cold with choke or without

Hi, David and the usual suspects are:
1. Throttle cables improperly adjusted, pinched or need lubrication.
2. Idle adjusting screw needs to be backed off.
4. Air fuel mixture adjusted too lean start with 2 full turns.
5. Intake system air leak.
6. Fast idle choke ramp is not releasing.
7. Broken throttle return spring.
8. Damaged diaphragm or slide.
9. Faulty MAP, TPS, ATS, O2, sensors or wiring/connector
10. Multi carburetors not in sync.

2004 yamaha ttr225 smoke's really bad out the exhaust and oil goes threw dont know where but come's out the exhaust, have changed the valve seals and all ring's and head gasket but still same problem,what...

Hi, Pauljackson your instrument gauges and lights can alert you to most electrical and engine issues they can not warn you about failed engine gaskets or seals so your engine has to resort to old fashion alert methods of colored "SMOKE SIGNALS" here is a breakdown of their meaning:
1. COLORLESS OR SLIGHTLY BLUE SMOKE on start-up means your air/fuel mixture is at the right composition and everything is well burnt in your combustion chamber.
2. BLUE SMOKE on start-up is usually caused by failed valve seals dripping oil into the combustion chamber when the engine is not running.
3. YELLOW OR BROWNISH SMOKE at start-up means your air/fuel mixture is too lean. Too lean means that there is low fuel but high air mixture in your combustion chamber.
4. WHITE SMOKE on start-up may be caused by a blown head gasket allowing coolant to enter the combustion chamber and may start dripping out of the exhaust pipes or mufflers. Smoke while riding is usually caused by worn out or damaged valves, seals, guides, pistons, rings, or cylinder walls.
5. BLACK SMOKE on start-up is usually caused by too much fuel in the combustion chamber this can be due to air/fuel mixture adjustment too rich, accelerator pump improperly adjusted, faulty choke/enrichner or not in the off position, air filter dirty and clogged, faulty carburetor float needle and seat, pilot jet too large, fuel injectors leaking, smoke while riding is usually caused by the main jet being too large or a damaged carburetor.
It should be noted that aggressive or abnormal throttle operation will cause these conditions to manifest themselves exponentially.

No Spark on TTR 125 L

Ignition Coil Problem or the CDI. Check for both. Replace the spark plug with a new one for diagnostic purposes.. check also for the wire. I recommend using split fire wires as they're heavy duty. Check that the wires are making contact with the spark plug up to the starter relay to the battery.
