Question about Honda VF 500 F Motorcycles

Its been sitting the throttle is stuck shut , its not the cables

My honda interceptor 500 1985 was sitting now the throttle is stuck shut. its not the cables . any Ideas?

The old gas has returned to its natural state....TAR

gum rid or carb cleaner but only carb body gets wet, No rubber, plastic are removed

It sounds like your throttle cable is getting stuck follow it from the handle bar down to the carb turn it while it is off and watch the butterfly where it attaches the cable it may need lubricant or a new cable start there. If not the cable look into the throttle on the handle bar itself

My throttle on my 1987 honda accord lxi hatchback is stuck.

I'd check throttle body/carb for stuck/broke parts..carbon buildup..
Also look and see if throttle cable got stuck somewhere or rusty and not sliding properly

2010 Honda VFR 800 Interceptor will not start

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel tank empty.
2. The fuel tank has old dead gas.
3. Fuel tank bottom contaminated with ethanol sludge, dirt, water, rust, etc.
4. Fuel supply valve/petcock turned off.
5. Fouled spark plugs.
6. Engine flooded as a result of overuse of the enrichner.
7. Vacuum hose to the fuel supply valve/petcock disconnected, broken, cracked, or pinched.
8. Fuel valve/petcock or filter clogged.
9. Fuel line to carburetor or throttle body pinched, kinked or blocked.
10. Carburetor float stuck.
11. Fuel injectors clogged.
12. Fuel injectors stuck open.
13. Severely discharged or a damaged battery should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a cursory reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead acid batteries.
14. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
15. Loose or corroded wire connection at the coil or plug between ignition sensor and ECM module.
16. Spark plug cables in bad condition and shorting check for spark leakage in the dark, cable connections loose, or connected to the wrong cylinders.
17. Ignition timing incorrect due to a faulty ignition coil, ignition module or MAP, CMP, CKP, O2, TPS, ETP, IAC sensors.
18. Faulty neutral, clutch lever, or kickstand safety switch.
19. Faulty fuel pump or fuse or relay.
20. A stuck bent or burnt valve.
21. Tilt sensor needs a reset.
22. Security system not disarming alarm needs a reset.
23. Check for engine trouble codes.

Crown vic police interceptor 2003 when i start the motor, it runs about 2000rpm by itself. I understand some of electronics. So i changed the tps sensor but didnt fix the problem. Neither the fuel pump,...

Always start with the simple stuff.. look for vacuum leaks. look at accel cable attached to the throttle body.. is it stuck holding the throttle plate open? The big Vac hose from the intake manifold to the brake booster? . remove the big air hose from the airfilter to the throttle body check the throttle plate.. and clean the mass air.. special spray cleaner at auto parts store. Did this just happen or did you change something.. DID YOU INSTALL THE TPS WITH THE HOSE ON AND COULD NOT SEE THE THROTTLE PLATE POSITION?.

Throttle sticks

Your throttle cable play maybe out of specification. You may also want to apply some cable grease to your throttle cable to ensure it will not seized.

Your rear wheel is mounted on an offset cam. Part #6 Loosen the bolt on the back of the wheel/cam/bearing holder at the back of the swing arm.Part #16 Use tools Part # 15 and 7or 6 (whichever fits the circumference of the cam) together to rotate the bearing cam until the chain has approximately 1 and 1/2 inches of slack from the top to the bottom of its movement in the middle of the chain slack. Then retighten the bolt on the back of the swing arm. Happy Riding

Hi I have a 2007 model that I recently purchased and cant get it to idle less than 3000? RPM. Doesnt matter whether the choke is all the way on or off . I have taken the CARB off and cleaned and blown...

Well have you checked the throttle cable connection, are they tight or you have some free play? Ensure your throttle return spring is correctly pulling the throttle back .
Your problem is mainly a stuck cable.

Atv starts but runs wide open only even though the throttle cable looks like it works fine

Your bike will only run at full throttle if your cable or main jet needle are stuck in the full throttle position .Take your throttle cable off and check that its freely working inside the outer caseing .

Motor would not shut off and radiator fluid shooting out.

cable pulled out of carb top and pulled throttle open. on top of this water pump stuck open and thermasat did not open. Unless water jacket is cracked. Motor went into deseiling and thats why it would not shut down with kill switch
