Remove the water trap bowl at the bottom of the petcock, (gas valve). Is there any water or trash in the bowl? Drain a cup of gas from the tank. Is there any water or trash in the cup? Dump it, clean it and re-mount it, ( not all bikes have a water trap bowl ).

Drain the carburetor. There may be a screw on the lower side of the carb float bowl. Remove the screw then replace it after the fuel drains. Turn the gas back on and wait a minute for the carb to fill with gas. Install a new stock NGK spark plug and try to start the engine. If the bike doesn't start and run properly then shut off the gas and remove the carburetor from the engine.

Remove the float bowl and clean the entire carb with a spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray into all the little airways and fittings in the carb. Remove the idle screw and the air screw on the outside throat of the
carb and spray into the screw holes as well.
< < READ CLOSELY > >
Be sure to put these two screws back in the same hole they came out of. IMPORTANT > do not tighten these two screws down. Only screw these in until they LIGHTLY seat. Now turn each screw one and one half turns outward. Put the rest of the
carb back together, clean the air filter and install the carb. Let the float bowl fill then start the engine. This process should get you back on the road.

Please rate this solution. Thanks!

Hi, Kartik I would love to help you with your engine or chassis noise but I just loaned my brand new pair of listening ears to your local dealer's chief technician so he could take your bike for a test ride and give you his professional opinion and estimate about your noise and repair cost. If you are a little short on "DRACHMA" and a Dealership is not on your list of fun places to visit then perhaps the list below will help soothe your worried mind so you can make an informed decision.

Service manual for yamaha gladiator

Hi, Anonymous the vast majority of service, parts, and owners manuals on the internet are "FREE" to download and all service manuals contain wiring diagrams in the back pages. The rest usually charge a modest fee around $10 sometimes more and there is a handful of obscure, rare, obsolete, and very old models that are no longer or never were available, then there is eBay where you may be able to find what you need at a very high price because of its age and rarity. Most of the "FREE" manuals will cover your exact make, model, and year otherwise one will be provided that comes as close as possible to your bike and will have most of the same info that an exact manual would have.

I have a yamaha gladiator ss purchased on 1 june 2009. My bike makes a very hollow and loud sound and has poor pick up as compared to other gladiators, also its not at all smooth to drive. It behaves like...

Hi, Gaurav and the usual suspects are:
1. Throttle cables misaligned or misrouted.
2. Damaged or restricted fuel tank venting system.
3. Intake system air leak.
4. Vacuum piston malfunction.
5. Pinholes or torn diaphragm.
6. Accelerator pump leaking or no output.
7. Plugged bowl vent or overflow.
8. Fuel level in bowl too low.
9. Restricted fuel supply passages.
10. Plugged jets or passages.
11. Worn or damaged needle or needle jet.
12. The enrichner valve/choke not seated or leaking.

Yamaha gladiator ss valve cleareances

Noise seems to be generating from the rocker arm of the valve adjustment. You have to do valve adjustment only when the engine is in cold condition. ie room temperature.

At this point slip a feeler guage & adjust. first loosen the rocker arm hexagon lock nut & try adjusting the valve pressing post. You may require special tool for this!!

I HAD PURCHASED ONE GLADIATOR RS ON DEC 2009 MY

As the noise appears only at a certain speed, it sounds like it is just something vibrating when the engine gets to the right frequency. Same for the vibrations

Good Luck
Hope this helps.

Engine Monotonous sound from new yamaha gladiator ss 125cc

The sound is being caused by something mechanical. It is not likely to go away by it's self. It will probably get worse. Don't wait for the next service. Take it in now before any more potential damage can be done. Check the oil level in the gearbox. It could be low.

There is not enough information for me to identify your bike. Go to http://www.carlsalter.com/motorcycle-manuals.asp , and see if your model is listed, and if it is then download a manual. I have a "Genesis", but it is actually a FZ750 Yamaha. :)
