Question about 2003 Moto Guzzi Breva V750 ie

1 Answer

Guzzi sometimes won't go into neutral

My moto guzzi breva 750 seems to have some problems shifting from first to neutral when pulling over and trying to get it out of gear - anyone have any ideas why that might be? I find if I roll it forward in first once (maybe twice) only then will it pop up into neutral - it's got me beat Thanks Fran

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll have a chat to the mechanic I normally go to and get an idea on cost. I had a service done on it 2000kms ago and it's been a problem since I bought it - only recently is it doing it more than usual

    Appreciate the help :-)

Sounds like a slightly bent shift fork. But start with a oil and oil filter change. Dirt and grit in the oil can cause the same problem. If the problem gets worst you will need to replace the bad fork. This is a very involved project and bets done in the shop.

Please rate this solution. Thanks Fran :)

14. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
15. Loose or corroded wire connection at the coil or plug between ignition sensor and ECM module.

Moto Guzzi breva 1100 won't start clicks at relay.

Take a look at the starter solenoid. There are two larger wires, on the back. One from the battery positive, (main hot wire), the other goes to the starter motor (If you jump these terminals the starter will spin but will not engage the flywheel). Look at the wires and nuts on the solenoid, especially the starter motor side make sure they are clean and tight, have not gotten hot and started rusting. Also check the voltage on the solenoid wire, (smallest) wire from the start button. In some cases there is a voltage loss on this wire. Next time it will not engage the starter right away, make a jump from the main power battery terminal on the starter to the solenoid wire. If it starts right up every time, you need to add and wire in another relay to carry the voltage to the solenoid from the start button, (a relay to work the solenoid, lol). If that test does not work or help.. Tap on the starter motor with a hammer. if it catches and turns the engine then, the motor brushes are worn and need to be replaced.
