Have a 1999 yamaha r6, right sided a curb to avoid a car, replaced the right fork, but now my left fork is leaking could the impact have dislodged the seal and if so can it be reseated

Hey Ronald... both fork leg seals are leaking..
Let me understand.. you replaced the entire right fork? or just the seal?. The fork legs themselves may be bent .. if the seal is leaking.. it needs to be replaced.. if it is popped loose... then you need to put a new seal in place and probably a new circlip/seal retaining ring and change the fork oil..while you have it apart, I would check the fork leg for warpage(bent)... you need to find a REAL granite SURFACE PLATE..clean it and roll your clean fork on it.. if its bent, it WILL show up..I think if its more than .001" - .0025" warped, then it needs straightening.. a roller press can do it..or replace it..

If feels like a pogo stick sometimes and also wants the front end to wash out too and on the front forks i have a oil leak

Your front fork seal are bad and need to be replaced.
When you loose fork oil, your loosing suspension dampening and only riding on the springs.(POGO)

Replace both front fork seals and dust caps, and put same amount of fork fluid in both forks.

I bought my seals and caps for $30 on ebay, and then took my forks off my bike and took them to a shop and they charged me $75 to do the job.

You can take them the whole bike and they will charge $100 - $150 including parts to do the job.

I Want to replace front fork seals on my 2004 Yam XT660X and need to know Fluid and Quantity used. Are there any manuals available for this model. I have replaced seals on some of my previous bikes.

If you want to replace them for maintainence ok.If its for a leak ,try this.Get some camera film negative.Usually in the pack of photos.Cut the notches off the side and cut one end at 45%.Slide it up into the fork seal. Now,with a sawing motion ,move it up and down and at the same time, work it around the seal.Any grit that is causing the leak will be felt. When grit is felt, pull it out, clean it and start again. It may take a few times but it works.A lot cheaper than seals all the time.Hope this helps

Front forks will not seal

dissassemble forks and replace fork seals.(and oil) becareful forks are under a lot of spring pressue. use a workbench vise to hold fork tubes. you will need the manual for this. plus you will need to know the "proper" amount of fluid to put back into the forks.

2001 yzf426 front fork leak

Each fork has an outer dust seal, and an inner seal inside of that. Dirt gets between the seal lip and the fork slider and causes the oil to escape. The fix is to have them (Both sides) replaced. You need a fork seal driver tool (Size specific for the size of the fork) and something to measure out the oil amount. It's not an easy job, if you have never done it. Also... if the oil has never been changed, it's due.

Front seals, and engine missing.

You have telescopic forks on that model. A telescopic fork on a honda or a suzuki or yamaha are basically the same. The main thing you need to know is fluid level. If you've never done it before , please leave it to the professionals only because that is a major oops if it's not done right and could kill you. as far as the missing, it sounds like you need a carb clean ( if it applies to you unit ) Your slow speed jet gets clogged very easily on the *** models because the inner size of the jet is tiny. If you didn't store the bike with stabil or if you've left gas sitting in the tank and carbs ( if applicable ) for longer than 3 mo's then I would do a carb clean. If your model is Fuel injected.. You mat have a bad fuel management system ( Power Commander, Fuel pak etc... ) try unplugging it to see if the problem clears up. if you don't have am aftermarket fuel management and it is a stock bike with fuel injection, then I would suggest bringing it to a dealer to see if there are any current or historic codes in the bank.

2004 honda shadow 600 VLX leaking fork seal bike has 600 miles on it should I replace left and right if only right is leaking.

check first to see if the leaking fork has any rust pitting on the chrome,if it has and its a very small blemish then fettle it off first, and just replace the leaking seal,as the saying goes..if it aint broke dont fix it,if the seals had been in the forks for years and the bike not used then consider replacing both..

Fork seal replacement

Did you try taking down the fork seal and cleaning out with wd/40 and a piece of 30mm film? You should always try this first. The seals rarely go bad. There's probably just a vary small rock holdeing it open and the film will dislodge it the wd is just to help things along.
