The only real test of correct clutch adjustment on this is to ensure the center (compression plate) does spin without wobble and is tight enough to not slip or drag. adjust to just cover all spigot threads and rotate clutch observing that it should show no sign of lateral deviation, then tighten so no slip occurs by even turns on each spigot screw and recheck rotation.

My triumph 955i 2003 Starts but won't move

Hi, Mellymel you may have a clutch issue for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. If necessary, transport your bike to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your problem. Having problems starting a 2001 Triumph Adventurer. Previous owner let the bike sit for a while and a nephew started it and ran it periodically. Wouldn't start reliably and when it did it...

There is also a switch on the kick stand, check that for being junked up or loose also. Is the neutral light on, again the ECU will be looking for the neutral light or at least the trans being in neutral. Then you may just need to try adjusting the clutch. Feel for a resistance then adjust for a bit of slack on the lever. They do not have your particular model but look here at this site for a manual on a Triumph. Most company's use the same wiring on other models or at least you can get an idea of where to look. Hope this helps Fix Ya up.

Where can i get a manual or blueprints of the 1950 triumph 649 thunderbird, the one brando rode in the wild one... i model bikes and i want to make an exact model of brando,s ...thanks

There are many workshop manuals (aftermarket) available through "Whitehorse" -- or go on Amazon and try to find a Triumph Twins restoration manual that would have photos of early pre-unit models like the Thunderbird. [[ ]]

New bonded and steel plates fitted. Set up as per manual but plates not seperating ( I think). Pressure plate lifts evenly when lever pulled. Is it because new plates are much thicker than burnt out ones...

It is important after replacing clutch discs that the 'free play' for the pressure plate is adjusted. First loosen the clutch cable adjuster so there is excessive free play on the clutch lever. Then loosen the locknut on the pressure plate adjustment rod and loosen the rod (turn it clockwise) until there is no pressure then turn it the other way until there is contact. Now turn it the other direction about 1/4 turn and while holding it there tighten the lock nut. After that is complete adjust the clutch handle so there is about 10mm free plat at the end of the lever.

Clutch roblem

Your clutch isn't stopping the tranny. Can you adjust it? It needs to be tighter. I'm not much of a bike guy, and haven't owned one since i was a kid, but i know i could adjust the clutch cable.
