Bike turns over and have spark but fuel pump does not come on

    Fuse? Fuel pump relay? What have you checked so far?

    07 filters classic I hear pump come on and then go off. Real quick. I then depress start button and here pump run but no fuel flowing. 1st question is, how long should pump stay on before depressing the start button, 2nd question, what wires on the four pin connector at pump should have power and how much voltage.

Check for voltage at fuel pump connector, if no voltage, check for voltage supply and load at fuel pump relay. If no voltage there check fuses.

2004 fat boy won't start


First check for spark by using a known good plug and laying it on cylinder head while cranking. Leave the original plugs in. Do NOT remove them for this test. If no spark then either crankshaft position sensor or the ECU or the coil or system relay or fuses or wiring is faulty. If you do not have good electrical knowledge to check these out, bring it to a dealer. If good spark, then fuel must be the problem. Check to see if fuel pump runs for a few seconds when turning bike on. You shoud hear the pump running for a few seconds then stop. If the pump does not run, check system relay and fuel pump fuses. Note - the pump will only run once when turned on/off every few seconds. Bike needs to be off for at least ten seconds for next pump cycle. Check to see if faults codes are stored in ECU memory as these may lead you to the cause.

Cranks but no start


Is your bike fuel injected ? If it is do you hear the fuel pump turn on then off ? If it is fuel injected and you do not hear the fuel pump turn on check system relay. If that is not the problem then do you have spark at the plugs. If you do not have spark check to see if the CKP is working by unpluging it and checking for AC voltage while cranking the motor.

My truck does not start. I changed the spark plugs and tested them for spark. That works. I changed the wires and rotor. I changed the fuel filter.


is fuel pump working, turn key to on listen for buzzing noise in gas tank, no noise means need pump, or check fuel pressure with fuel gauge , fuel check outlet looks like a valve stem on a bike located on fuel line near top of engine.

I am not sure it is a fuel pump problem but assume so. The bike will not start, it turns over and is getting spark but still will not start. I do not hear the usual whinning motor sound when I turn the...


I would check the electrical feed to the pump. A messy dangerous business to work on as it will pump fuel everywhere if you are not carefull

I have a 2006 street glide fuel injected engine cranks but has no spark and is not getting any fuel.


If you have the spark plugs out of the engine, you will not see a spark on them when you crank the engine over. The engine is equipped with a compression sensor. No compression, no spark. Try installing another set of spark plugs and the rotate the engine over with a set in the wires.

Not getting any fuel is a tough one. Since I don't know much about the fuel injected, computer controlled models, the first thing I could tell you to do is to check to see if your fuel pump is working. With your ear press to the fuel tank, turn the switch on after it's been sitting a while. You should be able to hear the fuel pump run for just a few seconds. I don't know what to tell you to listen for though. Some pumps make a whirring type sound others a clicking type sound. If you know someone else that owns a fuel injected bike, try it on their bike and see if you can hear anything. That's the best I can do. Good Luck!

It will have a fuel filter in the fuel line (should be easy to find) but does not have a fuel pump. Firstly i would check you have spark on all cylinders as this is the most likely thing to be going wrong. Once you are sure you have spark you can start trouble shooting fuel and air delivery problems.
To check for spark remove a sparkplug, insert it back into its HT lead. Place the threads of the sparkplug on the engine block and crank the engine. A strong blue spark should be visible.

Bike wont start


I posted this for a similar problem, maybe it can help. Are you sure it's getting gas to the carbs? Some people don't realize the 99-02 SV650 has a vacuum-actuated fuel pump, and sometimes it can get stuck. Mine has had this problem, and it took me a while to determine it was the problem. I would guess it only happens after the bike has been sitting a while (ours unfortunately sat for a year or so without being run).

Best way to check it is to lift the tank (it's bolted to the frame on the right side of the engine just under the tank). Unplug the line toward the front of the motorcycle from the fuel pump, and connect some spare fuel hose to it running to a can next to the bike (don't want to get gas everywhere!). With everything else still connected, crank the bike for a short period to see if any fuel comes out (shouldn't take long). If not, then move backward and ensure fuel will flow from the vacuum-petcock when the bike is cranked. If that does work, your fuel pump needs some work. I was able to take mine apart and unstick it.

CB600 hornet, after about 10 miles the engine cuts out , wont restart until it tends to cool down and then is repeatable, any ideas, been told it could be a rectifier ?


check for a real good powerful bluish spark only when the bike will not start ...if you don't have the big bright bluish spark and you see a reddish purple spark instead, then i would start with the pulse generators. if your spark is healthy and you installed a new fuel filter, then i would check your fuel pump output...follow the line from the pump that leads to the filter and detach it put the fuel line into a small catch tank.... start bike, and see if fuel streams out, if it does, then you know your pump is working. so now we know we got good spark?, good air,(correct?),new fuel filter? (fresh gas?),and great fuel pumping.
(this bike should be running!) did you replace plugs and wires, because this is probably the cause.... also your coils could be overheating, spray them down and see if this help getting the bike stated quicker...get back to me i might have i might have a few other tricks. feedback please if it helps, Thanks
