With headlights on and hit the brakes the trailor lights go off

Usually a ground problem in the harness. The brake lights use the ground that the clearance lights are using.

I am wiring my town and country to pull a trailor and i need to know, which wires are for what.

Did you buy a pre-wired kit for your van or are going to try and wire it up with just a harness? It won't work. When you hit the blinkers, the brakes won't go, and when you hit the brakes, there is no blinker. They all go on at the same time. The kits have a little gizmo in them to stop the problem. They are a must. I tried it once without and just about killed my cat because it wouldn't work, but once I got the gizmo in there,it worked perfect. You can buy the pre-wired kits for $20, ebay has them or your parts store, walmart, check it out, hope this helps.

I need to hook up a boat trailor Whats the color code for a 1995

I suspect that the 4 wire harness includes a ground, so you may not be able to connect both brake lights and turn signals, which are separate lamps on the pickup. You may need to get an adapter.

In any case, the color codes on the pickup are:

Tail lights -- pink/blue
Brake Lights -- green/yellow
Left turn signal -- gray/blue
Right turn signal -- gray/red
Ground -- black

the wire you maybe talking about could posibly be for the trailer brake controller, which you have to buy serperate i'm not to sure how much it will run you but i would look into that because that is what the extra wire is usually forwith the 7 prong trailer plugs

Identifying color coded wires for trailer hookup

get a cheap 12 volt test ($6 any parts store) light and have someone operate the different lights while u proble the wires, when the test light illuminates you tag that wire for what circuit was activated, brake, running, turn etc.
