Drain the carburetors. There should be a screw on the lower side of each carb float bowl. Remove the screw then replace it after the fuel drains. Is there any water in the gas? Remove the water trap bowl at the bottom of the petcock, (gas valve). Is there any water or trash in the bowl? Drain a cup of gas from the tank. Is there any water or trash in the cup? Dump it, clean it and re-mount it, (not all bikes have a water trap bowl). Turn the gas back on and wait a minute for the carbs to fill with gas. Install new stock NGK spark plugs and try to start the engine. If the bike doesn't start and run properly then shut off the gas and remove the carburetors from the engine.

FOR EACH CARB > Remove the float bowl and clean the entire
carb with a spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray into all the little airways and fittings in the carb. Remove the two screws on the outside throat of the carb and spray into the screw holes as well.
Be sure to put these two screws back in the same hole they came out of. IMPORTANT > do not tighten these two screws down. Only screw these in until they LIGHTLY seat. Now turn each screw one and one half turns outward. Put the rest of the
carb back together, clean the air filter and install the carb. Let the float bowl fill then start the engine. This process should get you back on the road.

Please rate this solution. Thanks!

How long has the chainsaw been sitting? How long has it been sitting with the same gas in it? Typically, most chainsaw and weedtrimmer repairs are fuel related. More times than not, simply draining the old gas, and putting brand new fresh mixed fuel just purchased from the gas station will fix most non start problems. Many people will not believe me, but after 20 years of fixing small engines, i've fixed 70% of the chain saw and string trimmer and related sized engines by putting in new fuel. Fuel goes bad now a days in 30 days. So if the fuel in the gas can sitting in the garage is older than 30 days it is old when you are considering trying to use it in a small engine. Fuel in a car will not cause the same issues as quickly for several reasons. If the fuel in the gas can is older than 30 days get rid of it. If after changing the fuel out completely doesn't fix your problem, feel free to contact me and I'll see if I can help you out.

Hello, guys. I have a BMW that has been parked in the garage for five years. Before that, everythings was working good, but when I tried to start it last week, I didn't suceed. What do you think may be...

Injectors can be stuck with old fuel so they don't operate. Gas evaporates from tip leaving gummy deposits that make the injectors stick. You might have to take them out. They might make a ticking noise if they are working, but this is pretty hard to hear over the background noise.
See if there is a smell of gas in the exhaust.
Check ignition to see if you are getting spark. Be careful doing this!
You may have water in the gas just from it sitting around. Drain tank and put in new gas (right). Failing that, add dry gas (alcohol) and add new gas.
Disconnect a fuel line and see if what comes out smells like gas.

Did you also drain the carbs when you drained the tank? You may have a vacuum controlled fuel valve which won't let the new gas into the carbs. If you can crank the motor long enough it should open and fill the carbs. Otherwise you can **** on the vacuum hose for half a minute and open the valve to fill the carbs that way. If it was sitting for a year or more it will likely need a carb cleaning, but it should run on new gas if it ran on old gas. Also if there is a fuel pump make sure it is working and any filter or screens in the tank fitting or inline that they are not blocked.

im asuming it was running fine when it was garaged? if so, then the first thing you need to do is to drain the fuel tank and flush the fuel lines. when gas gets old, it simply wont ignite. and over that time, it thickens into almost a syrup. so you need to drain and clean the fuel tank, fuel lines, and replace the fuel filter. im not sure if that year jeep is carbureted or fuel injected, but if it has a carb., then that will definitely need to be cleaned. or for fuel injection, use a good fuel injector cleaner mixed with your new gas. once it starts, it wlil run a bit rough, but once the old fuel gets burned out of the system, it should gradually improve.

I want to clean out my generator that has been sitting in my garage for almost 2 years, it has gas in it and it has been fired up only once since I bought it. Can anyone help.

First, I would drain out the old gas and put in freah and try it. If it doesn't start, try squirting gas into the carb and try again. Sometimes it will clear out the old gas a run. If not, the carb will have to be removed and throughly cleaned. The MOST important thing to remember about a generator, since they usually don't get used too often, is to ALWAYS keep FUEL STABILIZER in the gas.
