Question about 1995 Yamaha FZX 250 Zeal

1 Answer

Runs fine until bike warms up then misses

Runs fine until bike warms up - or riding for 30mins or more,

then the bike starts to miss at 6,000rpm. The longer you ride the bike misses lower in the rev range, ie. from 4k to 6k then from 2k to 6k

but anything higher than 7-8k rpm the bike runs fine.

any advice? have cleaned carbies, and flushed fuel tank, using goood fuel.

What can I do for a 2003 750 Honda Magna motorcycle miss that has a pull choke

Lubricate the choke cable. it SHOULD pull out and turn either way a quarter of a turn to hold position. K and N filter will make mixture run lean. Try to turn mixture screw in or out until it runs best. You may need to fit a larger jet into the carb as it will be jetted in the factory for a restrictive air filter assembly
K and N will be able to advise

the igntion module on the right side of the motor is probably bad its a typical issue with sportsters, if you heat the area around the timer cover with a heat gun and then try to start the bike and it wont start then you know its the ignition module on the sensor plate.

yes you hit the nail right on the head there,, its the tem sensor playing you up, its telling the car's computer its warm when its still cold and it cuts back the fule like pushing in the choke,,, this causes the engine to miss fire and lack power till its warm change the sensor

Cold starts ok warms up shakes and stalls

check engine coolant temperature when it gets warmer, or at operating temperature, and verify that the temperature gauge is showing warmed up to operating temperature. If the coolant temperature sensor tells the computer the engine is cold it will over fuel and miss and the engine will die. When cooled down it will run fine until it warms up. Also could be coil if it starts missing after warmed up.

Missing, back firing just working really bad!

im not certain as i dont have a maintanance manual for that bike, but intake valve clearance should be approx .004 and exhaust valves should be appxox .008 also you may consider taking the coils to a shop and have them tested. coils after warming up will begin to fail once they start to go bad. spark will be great when the bike is cold, but once it warms up, spark begins to fade and hit and miss.. this may be the problem. hope this helps.
