Get a service repair manual. You will be running blind without one. Why did you take the clutch apart? What was the problem with the bike that made you tear it apart? Was it hard to shift into gears?

My 1999 fxstb night train will start but wont gears engage

If the gears will not engage check to see if the gear shifter linkage from the foot pedal to the arm that goes down behind the primary moves. It that all moves and the arm is snug on the shifter arm behind the primary you likely have a broken shifter arm assembly. These arms fail where they are welded to the pawl mechanism inside the transmission. If it is indeed broken you will have to pull the complete primary, clutch etc and the bearing race on the mainshaft and then the cover off of the transmission and pull the clutch release cover etc off and then pull the transmission cassette from the transmission case and then you can access and replace the shifter arm/pawl assembly.

Gear shifter wont engage transmission and making a clicking noise

if you press the shifter and it moves ,then at transmission side, something is loose or came apart,at gear selector side of transmission, some kind of E clip. or C clip

but if the shifter from inside the car not moving at all,

there is switch under brake pedal that is bad and need to be changed look at brake pedal and follow it up toward fire wall from inside the car where at that point upper part of pedal connected to master cylinder

1985 Honda XR 250 R hard to shift

Hi, Doug and the usual suspects are:
1. Clutch not adjusted properly.
2. Primary chaincase overfilled with lubricant.
3. Corners wore off shifter clutch dogs.
4. Shifter return spring bent or broken.
5. Bent shifter rod.
6. A loose shift lever on shifter shaft.
7. Shifter forks sprung.
8. Shifter pawl needs adjusting.
9. Heel/toe shifter coming in contact with the floorboard.
10. Transmission oil too heavy.

Clutch clicks into gear but theres no movement

This can be difficult to answer properly without a bit of knowledge on operation. If you can get it into gear with the motor running then clutch should be working. With that said, on to why it doesn't move acn be several things. Axle dislodged from transmission or broken CV joint, input shaft to clutch ana pressure plate damaged in some way, differential damage, shifter broken off internaly or broken cable, < should be able to feel this >. inspect axles to confirm they are not damaged or dislodged, inspect shifter to confirm it is operating like it should, < have someone move shifter and watch arm on transmission to confirm it is operating > at this point if you haven't found anything to have failed then would suggest having it looked at by someone who can tell you what cause is. I am not implying that the clutch has no damage to it,but other reasons can be cause. There is an inspection plate on bottom side of bell housing that can be removed to inspect for damage, < where engine and transmission connect>.

Truck wont go

Have you checked the output and dog gears in the transmission? I broke the teeth off my forward gear and all it was doing was revving up really high but not going anywhere, it would still go in reverse though. Traxxas.com has exploded views of the transmission so you can take it apart and look inside to see if there's any gears missing teeth, or if any of the bearings are seized.

Manual transmission shifter will not engage

Sounds to me that the shifter broke, i believe the shifter has a ball end that slips into a pocket in trans. that moves for gear selection and that ball brook off end of shifter. if its got a linkage set up most likely samething either shifting arms came off or shifter broke where linkage rods connect.

Did you adjust the shift rods from the shifter to the trans shift arms. Take your shift rods loose and put shifter in neutral, and transmission arms in neutral, then adjust the rods so they slide in. Then your shifter matches your transmission and you should be able to shift just fine.
