You can use knuckle bearing it is more tougher than the other bearing.

Hi Which steering head bearing kit do I go for?


the best way is to measure with a vernia caliper the inside and outside diameter of the top and bottom bearings you already have and compare them with what you were going to buy. for instance the bottom bearing may have a 30mm OD and a 45 mm OD and be 13 mm high.i strongly recommend you fit taper roller bearings to it .

I would suspect either something is loose or one or both wheels are not properly balanced. Could also be worn wheel or head-stock bearings or loose spokes if you have wire wheels fitted.

I guess my first question would be - what are your plans for the car ?
Totally stock, modified, or race ?
Totally stock would be the most valuable in terms of resale. Modified or race would limit the number and type of possible buyers.
It had a straight 6 cyl 250 - a 350 V8 - or 400 V8 when new. The VIN would tell you want the original engine was. And this was before GM swapped engines between brands. So the V8 engines were Pontiac built. The Pontiac 6 cyl was overhead cam.

Heavy vibration in hands and groin area to the point of numbness, check wheel balance and head stock bearing, but to no avail?


Check the fittings at the steering bar and the triple tree.
Check too the tightness of the engine mounting bolts to the frame... all of them.

1982 YZ250J how does the bottom bearing race


Try hitting it in a clockwise motion .The bearing are very tight ,they have to be ,so that the roller work properly another trick is to run boiling water over the outside of the head stock .This will exspand the outer head stock and give you a better chance of freeing the inner bearing .
