You can find a wiring diagram at autozone.com. You can register for free; list your make, model, year, and engine size when registering.
After registering, click on "repair help", then "vehicle repair guides", scroll down to "chassis electrical", click on that. Scroll down to "wiring diagrams" under "select a chapter". When wiring diagrams come up, scroll down to the two pages on the '81 F-100. Good luck.
you dont need a diagram. very simple sytem.
get a electrical probe and earth one end, touch tbe other en to the starter solenoid smaller wire. The large wires go to battery and to starter motor. Touch small terminal and press starter button, probe should light up (ign on), if it doesnt, chase the wiring up to the switch. If it does light up, take a jumper wire and cross the two larger wires and see if the starter engages (obviously first check battery is fully charged). if the starter turns over, replace starter solenoid (its only a 12v unit). if starter still not turning, youwill have to pull out starter motor unit for inspection.
On page 6-6, Hanes #72030, you will find the diagram that shows the EGR Valve for models 1981 through 1984.The diagram also is followed by models 1985 through 1997. The valve works exactly the same in the 1997 as it does in the 1984. If you need a diagram online, follow this link;
well you have several options you can go to a dealship and have them copy the diagram for you(i do this all the time) or you can purchase a repair manual at Napa or Oreilly's for around 20 bucks. it has diagrams and schematics in it. it also has alot of instructions in it so you can do repairs yourself. By the way i'm surprised that the mechanic doesn't have these diagrams himself. I was wandering why it won't start after you changed the plugs and wires could it be that maybe the firing order is wrong. i've done that myself a time or 2. double check the the plug wires to make sure they are in the right spot. if the problem is it won't crank. chances are you have a loose ground. please rate this..thanks
