Hi Dear. Might be grounding battry +ve after switching or Generator is not charging.

GA1400A generator,engine running well, but no electric output! Can you help me please!


Probably has lost exciter current. It can be restored : take wires from a 12 volt battery, use something like 16 or 18 gauge, and with generator running insert bare ends into the AC outlet - one to neutral and one to hot (doesn't matter which is positive or negative). Insert and remove quickly. There should be a flash and current restored. If not, do it again until you get that flash. Once you have that, the exciter current is restored and you will now have power. The reason for the light gauge wires is if you are too slow to remove the wires and AC is restored while still connected to the battery, the wires themselves (or one of them) will burn out and protect the battery from AC current. So be careful! I assume all breakers on the unit are on?

Battery keep going dead


If the battery is dead after starting then you have a short in the starting system. If it only starts when you jump it, and I'm assuming your using a car to do this, then it sounds like the starter is using an unusual amount of current to start and is defective. A shorted starter will drain a battery instantly, but make sure the positive cable is not shorted to the frame anywhere first.

Could be lost exciter current. This is how to restore it - Connect 16 or 18 gauge wires to a 12 volt battery. With generator running, insert bare ends of wires into AC outlet - one to Hot, the other to Neutral. Insert and remove quickly. There should be a flash and power will be restored. If not, repeat until you get that flash and output current restored. Using light gauge wires is so that if you are too slow to remove them once AC is restored. they will burn out before the battery suffers from the AC incoming. Be quick and be careful.

Electrical Problem


Your alternator/generator must be not working. If it works, it should be able to recharge the battery when your bike is running.

Battery dies while riding intermittently. Any known faults please ?? the bike is 2003 TDM 900


Checked the connections on the Generator/magneto, if the connections arn't loose, then its most likely bad.

New battery wont stay charged


Hi Anonymous, perform the following tests:
1. Fill acid type batteries to proper levels.
2. Charge battery overnight at 1-2 amps you need 12.5 volts or better after charging.
3. Hook up battery positive cable, then with your multimeter on the milliamp scale connect one lead to the negative battery post and the other lead to the ground cable. Meter should read 3 milliamps or less, 10 milliamps with a radio, 15 milliamps with radio and CB. If your meter reads higher you need to isolate the circuit by pulling fuses and circuit breakers one at a time and observe meter for drop in aprerage then get out your test light and track down the short in that circuit.
3. Make sure all connections are clean and tight especially the negative cable at both ends.
4. Hook up volt meter to battery and start engine, if meter falls below 9.5 v while cranking replace battery.
5. With engine running at 3600 RPM battery should read 14.3-14.7 volts if not continue tests.
6. Unplug voltage regulator from alternator at crankcase by front of primary cover.

8. With ohm meter, one lead grounded, touch alternator pin meter should read infinity, if not replace stator.
9. With ohm meter, both leads touching alternator pins meter should read 0.1 to 0.2 ohms on 1989 and later models. 0.2 to 0.4 ohms 1988 and earlier models, if not replace stator.
10. With volt meter set on AC scale, both leads touching alternator pins meter should read
16 to 20 volts AC for every 1000 RPM'S 1989 and later and 19 to 26 volts AC for every 1000 RPMS. If not replace rotor.

I just install a new battery in my bike but seems like it's not charging cause the battery it's dead could it be the generator or what could be the ploblem when I put the new battery was working...


The generator is called a statter. The battery is going dead cause the voltage regulator is bad. Worked on hyosungs for 5 years. Never seen a statter bad Voltage regulator is located under the seat MOPAR KENNY

It is corrected properly, right? + to the wiring harness and - to ground ... right? Are you certain about the rectifier? Is the battery charged at this time?

You know a alternator cannot make power unless you first put power into it ... right? Alternators (unlike most generators) are not self exciting. If your battery is weak or "dead", the alternator cannot make electricity to charge the battery. I don't know what the rating of your alternator is. Your battery should be fully charged before you do any more tests. If you have a 1 amp charger, allow at least 10 hours for a full charge. Don't cook your battery with a big, powerful, fast charging automotive battery charger.

Try a multi meter across the battery, much more than 14v engine running, and you will probably need a regulator.
The stator will produce 40-50v AC between any pair of the three same colored wires(probably yellow or white)
Make sure the battery is good and not shorted, and jumping off a car battery can put strain on the bike electrics as it will accept more amps the the bike can produce.
