Whirling noise on start up and constant tinkling

On the way home a loud noise from the crank case and bike cut out. I have replaced the rollers, and the front pulley disk (the fins had almost all gone and retaining nut was almost off, so replace, both finned plate and nut) belt is fine, cleaned all parts, filed off aluminum (from fins) which had melted on to plate on cam case which holds the kick start gears and rebuilt. Now when I start up I get a short whirling noise and a constant tinkling from the front of the case. However scooter starts up fine, but for the noises, which I would like to sort before something else goes. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks, Alan. Bike is a Gilera Runner FX 125 2 Stroke X Reg 2000, sorry model was not shown in options.

Okay, think after process of elimination I now know what the offending part is. It seems that the Starter Pinion is not disengaging fully, and rattles about. So will replace this, finders crossed this solves the issue.

My Canon MG8120 all-in-one makes a loud noise when copying (not when printing). How do I fix it?

Dear
from the question I understand, the scanner move to right and during return it starts noise.

The problem with scanner assembly, It might be dust accumulated on gears, the scanner belt might have loose or the grips of the belt has worn out. Proper cleaning and lubricating the moving parts may overcome also if the belt worn out it has to be replaced.
In case of at home position it gives noise then the home position sensor may dirty/dusty, it has to be cleaned.

thanks.

right found the question
sounds to me the that either the crank nut or the cam nut is rubbing on the head cover casing
pop the cam cover casing off and have a look
for any scraping marks
if that is the problem it needs to go in the shop for a look at
it could be the mains or the spacer washers on the crank
or something simple link the clutch
i know its low milage but these need very regular full service and oil change every 10 to 15k

I just bought a used 2009 Heritage Classic. I currently have a 2004 Deuce. The Deuce has V&H pipes and the Heritage has some slip on pipes. I hear a whirling sound out of the Heritage and not out...

It could be the transmission that you're hearing. Harley changed the way they cut the gears in the '06 models I think. I'm not really sure because the Twin Cam powered bikes are not something I work on. I work on the older bikes. If you're concerned about the noise, take it to a dealer and let a mechanic ride it or if you have a friend that has a bike later than '06, swap bikes for a ride and see what you hear.

Good Luck

CAR NOISE

hub or wheel speed sensor can cause noise. You need to find out if noise is constant or does it increase when turning left or right. have your outer joint checked in axle because they have been known to break.

Loud Noise

This sounds like something is caught in the brush roller. It is not uncommon for something like a pin, or nail or something of that nature to get caught in the roller chamber and when the roller spins, it will rub on the roller producing that sound. Sort of like putting a playing card in the spokes of your bike when you were a kid. Take the bottom plate off and remove the roller. Inspect the area around the roller for any foreign objects. While your there, check the belt for wear and tension and also check the roller bearings for any material that would interfere with it's smooth rotation. You should also check the hose intake for blockage.
