Question about 2001 Suzuki GSX-R 750

1 Answer

01 GSXR 750 will not Rev past 4K

Well my Suzuki has around 16K miles on it. When this first problem came up I did take it to the dealer. They replaced my ECU due to a faulty Exhaust valve. That fixed most of my problems, but they said that my tank was also very dirty. I pulled the tank, found 2 pin holes, and a ton of dirt/rust. I cleaned out my tank, then pulled apart my fuel pump and cleaned that as well. I think I ended up blowing a valve in the pump so I bought another pump. Clean fuel, pump, and tank and still have nothing. If I spray in starter fluid, the bike will rev up to 14K. That is the only way to make it happen. Will sending the injectors to Pro Flow help? Anything I could have missed?

Do not spray starter fluid in the bike. You definately seem to have a fuel problem. The right thing to do is test for fuel pressure before injectors and see what you have. Also you want to test the bike with the air box on. Do you have an f.i. light on, if so pull the code. (you need a paperclip to do so). If you decide you need injectors I would pick a set up off ebay. They sometimes sell them with the throttle bodies and they only run about a 100 dollars.

How do I go about fixing a reving issue on my bike? It doesnt like to rev past about 10,000 rpms. I was thinking maybe the carbs need to be rejetted. The bike will rev to redline in neutral.

Hi, Ani and the usual suspects are:
1. Severely drained or faulty battery.
2. Faulty regulator/rectifier or high output coil.
3. Faulty power valve, solenoid or installation.
4. Clogged air filter or exhaust.
5. Cracked or incorrect float level.
6. Float needle is not seating.
7. Faulty reed valve.

Hi Anthonybruno, after careful deliberation 4 out 5 Suzuki Gods give this one a thumbs up, but just to be on the safe side you should give your local dealers parts/service department a call to confirm. Good luck and have a nice day.

1990 gsxr 750 coil reads 14500 , ohms on secondary circuit (plug cap 1 to plug cap 4) should read 30,000 to 40,000ohms but same on coils 3and 2 plug caps engine runs but not well on no 4 cylinder

Most coil secondary resistance measure between 12K and 16K so well within the limmits. The HT wires may be resistance wires and then read around 15K to 30K.
I would look elsewhere for your fault. Check the compression and plug gap.

My 2008 suzuki gsxr 600 stalls when it reaches 70mph and above ,when the bike slows down the engine gives a **** and comes back in operation.

Make sure your air filter is clean, check the fuel filter and tank for contaminants.
More off the wall , the rev limiter may be faulty, is it a certain speed or a given rev range that causes the shutdown?
Look at the air filter first!!
Good Luck, Marshall

Hello i have a 01 gsxr 750 and it does not seem to fire on 1&2

You have two coils on the bike. I would start by checking the coil for the non working cylinders. Trace the spark plug wires back to the coil from cylinders 1 & 2.

98 gsxr cuts out around eight g when accelerating but fine in N

Sounds like you're running out of fuel. It doesn't take much power (ie, fuel) to rev it in neutral, which might explain why it does that fine but falls over under load. Checked your fuel pressure/pump/filter?
